Visual Art I
Exploration of drawing as an art form for the novice or for those with some experience. There will be an emphasis on the development of visual awareness and art appreciation. Various media and techniques will be explored in drawing from life and varied visual exercises. The emphasis of this course is on drawing skills to create pieces suitable for story telling, graphic novels, comic books, and magazines. Variety of styles and techniques are explored. Students will not only learn basic drawing abilities but also have opportunities to express their interests through engaging themes.

Various media and techniques will be explored in painting on two-dimensional surfaces; structure and composition, color, modeling and light, paint handling, and texture.
Visual Art II
This course encompasses critical thinking, research, art-making, refinement, and reflection. Students will not only compare and contrast different artworks and artifacts of a variety of cultural contexts, but also actively engage in their own art-making process and how their own culture influences their artwork. The goal of this course is to promote higher levels of complex thinking and engagement with the visual arts, and encourage students to be creative thinkers of all fields.
