Course Information:
Living Environment is an introductory biology course that includes a 1,200 minute laboratory component. The course provides students with a strong foundation in understanding the structure and function of living organisms, as well as their interactions within environmental systems. This course aligns with the New York State Core Curriculum and is specifically designed to prepare students for the living environment regents exam. All students taking living environment are required to take the regents exam. In this course, students will practice scientific inquiry and study topics including cell structure and function, basic biochemistry, nutrition, photosynthesis, respiration, mitosis, meiosis, genetics, protein synthesis, evolution, classification, plants, animals, body systems, ecology, and human impact on the environment.
