Course Information:

Applications and Interpretations is a two-year program of advanced mathematical studies designed for students who are interested in developing their mathematics for describing our world, modeling and solving practical problems using the power of technology. This course is intended for students who wish to pursue studies in social sciences, natural sciences, medicine, statistics, business, engineering, some economics, psychology, and design at university. This course builds on the concepts of Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 in preparation for the standard-level IB Applications and Interpretations examination in May of students’ senior year. Students examine topics in algebra; functions; geometry and trigonometry; statistics and probability; and introductory differential calculus. Students carry out an individual mathematical investigation using skills learned before and during the course.

Prerequisite: 65% or higher on the Algebra 1 Regents Exam and a 65% or higher year-long course average in Algebra 1.
