A word about failure and success......
A poster hangs on the wall in my classroom that reads, “I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” Michael Jordan is arguably the most talented basketball player who has ever played the game. I like to leave this quote up as a reminder to my students that failure is part of the road to success. As a teacher, I expect – I dare say – I want my students to make mistakes. That is how I know they are trying. The more you try – the more you fail – the more often you will succeed. As an educator, I want to emphasize a growth mindset in my classroom. We will learn that our brains are muscles that need to be exercised. Everyone is capable of being successful! I will work with every student to help him/her reach their full potential – and then some! We will learn and grow together.
Looking forward to learning together,
Mrs. Clark
