Meet Mr. Kane

Sean Kane is currently the director of choirs at Timberline High School in Boise, ID.  From 2008-2015 he served as director of choirs at Gonzaga Preparatory High School in Spokane, WA.  Choirs under his direction have been invited to Regional and State ACDA and NAfME convention performances, most recently performing at ACDA-NW in Spokane, WA.  His choirs are regular recipients of awards and superior ratings at local and regional festivals.  His program received the "Outstanding Choral Department" award from CBC's Jazz Unlimited festival in 2010, 2013, 2014, and 2015.  Choirs under his direction regularly perform in collaboration with collegiate choirs across the country have performed across the United States - from St. John the Divine in New York City, to The Los Angeles Cathedral, to the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas.  


Sean has been an active member of ACDA and NAfME his entire career, both in Washington State and in Idaho.  He was named the ID-ACDA 2019 “Conductor of the Year”, and the 2021 IMEA DIII Music Educator of the Year.  He is currently the ID-ACDA Repertory R&S Coordinator.  He is a frequent solo and ensemble judge, festival judge, and honor choir director.  He recently directed for Canyon County High School Honor choir, and the Idaho District IV High School Honor Choir.  As a vocalist, Sean has sung with the Spokane Choral Artists and with the Northwest Bach Festival.  


Sean has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (and Biology) from Gonzaga University and a Masters in Education from Montana State University.   He is the proud father of three children: Melia, Corinne, and Samuel.
