Dear Parents,
My name is David Ruffing and I will be your student’s Math teacher this year. I will spend a great deal of time with your child in the upcoming school year. Because of this, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself…both personally and professionally.
I was born and raised here in Boise, Idaho. I graduated from the College of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Exercise Science. I then pursued a Master of Education with Grand Canyon University. I followed a passion of athletics after high school, playing both basketball and baseball in College. Through my college experiences, I followed a track to teach young adults, not only Math, but life skills. I still participate in my passion for sports by coaching. I have been teaching since 2006. Besides teaching and coaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. My kids have begun to pursue interests in softball, baseball, soccer, crafts, etc. When there is a break from all of our activities, we enjoy the outdoors that the great state of Idaho provides us.
I have planned an enjoyable year for the students. I believe all students can succeed and it is my goal that all students succeed in my classroom.
As a parent, you are the most important person in your child’s life, and we need to work together for your child’s benefit. I would like your support for the homework assignments, academic goals, and classroom discipline plan I have set forth for the students. With school and home working together, I know your child can have a successful year. With your student maturing to adulthood, I plan on teaching responsibility and accountability by using COMMUNICATION. Your young adult will need this life skill very soon.
I will keep you informed about your student’s progress with weekly grade updates; your child should have access to Infinite Campus and check grades regularly. I will make it a point to update the grades weekly. Please review this with your child through the “Parent Portal” on Infinite Campus. This can be found under the “Students and Families” tab at http://www.boiseschools.org/.
