About the Principal Investigator

Dr. Terrence Deak earned his Ph.D. from University of Colorado at Boulder and joined the Behavioral Neuroscience Program in the Department of Psychology at Binghamton University in 2001.  Since then, he has had an active research program dedicated toward understanding experiences and traits that compromise overall brain health and subsequent healthy aging. For these reasons, his research lab focuses on mechanisms by which psychological stress and alcohol consumption patterns influence neuroinflammation and alter neuroendocrine function using rodent models.  These systems contribute to the development of neuropsychiatric conditions and adversely influence brain aging across the lifespan.  As such, many of his lab projects are rooted in theories of developmental origins of health and disease.

Dr. Deak is currently a Full Professor and Director of the Center for Development and Behavioral Neuroscience.
