Portfolio/ Exit Interview Requirements for the Class of 2024

Requirements for the Class of 2024

The information and documents below represent everything you will need to complete your Senior Portfolio.

Your portfolio (three ring binder with page protectors) must contain, at a minimum, in the following order:

1. Resume (error-free; one page with separate reference page or references at bottom of page - PLEASE use the template provided in the document links below)

2. Job Application (use Google Docs to type job application details into the template provided in the documents links below, print and sign in black ink)

3. Senior Exit Interview Questions (typed w/ answers in full sentence format; two-three sentences per question)

4. Letters of recommendation (two signed letters preferably on company letterhead and not from family members)

5. Reflective Essay (see instructions below)

6. Life Goals Essay (see instructions below)

7. FAFSA Certification Form (download, complete w/ DRN number, obtain signatures from Mrs. Edwards or Mr. Reed). FAFSA used to release a confirmation number - now it is called a DRN (Data Release Number - 4 digits long). You can put the first digit, then XX, and then the last digit, just to help keep that information secure. They may also ask to see your SAI or email to assist you with understanding your options.

NOTE:  Evidence of a completed FAFSA application is required to finalize the portfolio process.  You should submit a FAFSA application by March 1st to have the best chances for financial assistance.   For the portfolio requirement, use the FAFSA submission form below.  You will take this form to either Mr. Reed or Mrs. Edwards and they will add your name to the list showing the completion of this requirement.

We do want every senior to complete the FAFSA because it unlocks doors for them if/when they take courses at the college level. Even if going directly into the workforce or trades rather than college, some employers will pay for post-secondary coursework and often require FAFSA be filed to do so.  If, for a legitimate reason, you are unable to complete the FAFSA application process, please discuss your situation with Mr. Ostrander.

All documents are available to use in Google Docs to accommodate your school ChromeBooks. When your resume is error free/complete, you should save a Google Doc version and create a .pdf version into your own personal directory so you have access to it after graduation. Most online jobsites require a .pdf upload for resumes.

You must use our resume template for your portfolio. Once you graduate, you could always decide on a different template and just transfer your information. If you choose to do that, be consistent with all formatting (bullets, italics, bold, etc.). You must use your legal name on all documents for the portfolio and job search process.

Portfolios will be presented and evaluated at BHS Senior Exit Interviews in April 2024 (Friday, April 12) . A schedule of interview times is available here.  Please let the office or Mrs. Lōser know if you are missing from this list and expect to walk at graduation in May, 2024. If you have any questions regarding the Senior Portfolio, please contact:  Mrs. Lōser

Important Reminders

Portfolio Documents

The document list below includes everything that you need to complete the Senior Portfolio.  Each link should make an automatic copy of the document for you to then edit with your own information and store in your Google Drive. Some of the documents utilize tables, so you will need to add/delete rows or tab through to different sections. You may want to convert files to full Word documents for more detailed formatting options. The rubrics and peer editing documents are NOT a required part of your portfolio; use them to double check the accuracy of your portfolio components.
