Community Service

Effective with the class of 2023, there will be a 40 hour community service hour

requirement in order to graduate, 10 hours each year until graduation. Students should

work to attain at least the minimum hours at the end of each year. Community service

hours will be defined as that time spent providing service with no payment rendered and

must be completed outside the normal school hours. Hours will be accepted from non-

profit organizations and/or elderly or disabled individuals who are not capable of

performing work themselves. Working for students’ immediate families will not be

accepted. High school administration has the right to verify information submitted and can

deny submissions if the above requirements are not met. Early Release and/or Late Start

will not be granted until a student’s TOTAL 40 hours have been completed. Community

Service Forms should be completed. Students who complete a minimum of 20 hours beyond the

required 40 hours will earn a cord to be worn at graduation.
