Greetings,
Another year is underway at Westview High School and your student is a member of my American Studies class. My name is Kara Ferris and this is my twelfth year in the Beaverton School District and seventeenth year teaching. I have taught a variety of classes within the field of Social Studies, but this year I am also taking on the role of Advanced Programs Coordinator. I am excited for the new challenge this opportunity will give.
I am local to the area as I attended Glencoe High School and received my Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Spanish from Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. I also completed my Masters Degree in Education at Concordia University in Portland. In my spare time, I enjoy being with my friends and family, watching movies, watching Oregon Duck football, and taking care of my miniature Dachshunds, Jimmy and Maddie.
I understand the excitement and nervousness a student must feel coming to a very large school like Westview. Working together, I believe we can make this year a success for your student. The lines of communication are always open. I may be in contact with you when I have feedback regarding your student’s progress in class and I encourage you to do the same. There are many ways you can contact me. The best way to reach me is by email and my address is kara_ferris@beaverton.k12.or.us. If you would like to arrange a time to meet in person, please let me know and we can work together to make that happen.
I look forward to working with your student this upcoming year and again, if you have any questions or comments about the upcoming year I encourage you to contact me.
Here is to a great year!
