Page from a Children's Book
This page represents a moment in an adventure with a new friend. While the axolotl is unsure of how he feels about meeting the mouse, he follows them through the ginko forest anyway.
This digital painting uses flat browns, and grays to give a vintage feeling. The brighter colors of the fox stand out against the dull background. This fox, standing in an 18th century vintage home, is meant to inspire wonder, and curiosity. Why is a fox walking on two legs, is it looking out the window, and if so why?
In my painting, The Beautiful Dancer, I wanted to show anger, passion, love and courage. So people don’t feel comfortable in their skin and they feel like they can’t do anything they want, something they love to do. People are told that they are never good enough. I feel that everybody is beautiful the way they are despite their differences and they could do whatever they love in life. It’s hard to get through mean comments. With the red and black in this picture, I wanted to show war. People can be whoever they want to be and they can be dancers.
The Hand
There should be no ambiguity with this piece, it is a hand with an eye that stares into you. interpretation and over analyzing has been one of my biggest struggles as a person so I make a point in my art to have no meaning, it is simply what it is, nothing less, nothing more. We all think so much as people putting meaning where there should be none and its a silly practice to put your words in an artists mouth.
In my painting, Blooming, I tried to represent the nature in the universe with the flower like-drawing in the middle and the leaves all around it. The circle designs in mandala drawings symbolize the idea that life is never-ending and everything is connected. in the process of drawing this helped clear my mind and let your creative mind run free, I would recommend for others to try drawing one as well.
During Wintertime I had a dream, A clear vivid dream where I was in a snowy forest running away from a serial killer. In a moment where I was running up, The sun suddenly started to rise up and It was one of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen, The way the yellow strikes hit the trees covered in snow, and how the snow was perfectly white with tints of blue, it was one of my favorites. But then I started to look down and I started to see blood in the snow and then realized I needed to start running. At that moment I was very bothered by the way the blood completely ruined the whole scene and moment, which is what I was trying to go for when I created this Winter Hallucination. I wanted whoever was seeing it to be bothered by the blood in the beautiful snow, But to also have a nice little view and hopefully have an idea of what I saw when I saw the sunrise up.
In my art piece called "Mindset", it is supposed to represent inner peace and tranquility in your mind no matter your surroundings. The medium that I used for this was acrylic paint which I have never used before. So I'm pretty happy about how the piece turned out.
This piece is supposed to look like it was shot on a low quality camera, however I wouldn’t know how to complete the look without motion blur which is possible to add however I played around with the setting. It has a denoising tool which usually works amazingly well however in this particular instance it actually detracted from the image, making it look muddy.
In this image, I wanted to capture the image of a creature I haven't been able to stop thinking of. Not exactly a creature, but a collective. Combining both insectoid and mammalian parts on the queen, I wanted to suggest that this form isn't one she's always taken. Something unnatural caused this, perhaps she isn't even the first to join them. She doesn't want you to see it.
This piece was created to symbolize an indecipherable message. The message represents the artists thoughts, in purple. Other ideas are shown around, such as the mural on the wall and the hanging pot of bioluminescent moss. The area is very poorly lit, with the lantern creating most of the lighting. It is given an ancient feeling, making it seem like this area was lost in time
My piece, Borderline, is a visual into the mind of borderline personality disorder. Everyone has emotions, that's clear, and to anyone else this piece were to seem like a simple message, "I have feelings, I'm human." But I put more meaning behind it. Having the disorder can, at times, feel like that one emotion encapsulates you, consumes you. Becomes all you can feel. And all while it's consuming and greedy, the feelings can switch. Quicker than most would imagine. Leading you to feel consumed by yet another emotion after another. But even though BPD can feel so overwhelming you can hardly move, it's not who you are. It's a part of you sure, but in the end, borderline personality disorder is a small aspect in a complex and moving mind.
My goal for Foil Balloon was to create a piece of work that contains a lot of the techniques and styles used in modern art. I noticed that modern art consists of mostly freestyle and random objects put together to form a neat piece of work. In this case, I attempted to make a piece of art that recreates those modern styles. I also wanted my art to cause a bit of confusion, which is the reason why my piece seems pretty random. The background is a mix of random patterns, and the main focus is a man in a suit, with the suit being a mix of different colors; the colors which make the focus on this piece pop out more. Also, the man in the suit has a foil balloon as his head, which was done to create that feeling of randomness.
Single Bird- Acrylic paint
This painting talks about being different. This colorful bird is alone since nature sees anything that is different as a threat. he would probably be attacked by the other birds around him and have to suffer alone since he is different from the other birds.
Birds represent freedom, but in nature, most birds stick in Packs. Is that freedom? You are forced into a routine by those around you and nature. So why is that freedom? Just because they can go a bit higher than us? they're not stuck at home? We can go out right now, we just choose not to.
Digital on Sketchbook
In this art piece called "Japanese Street" I have attempted to encapsulate the beauty of Japanese architecture. The calm yellows and the happy blues help make this art piece relaxing and easy to look at. The nature around the environment gives a breath of fresh air.
Serendipity
In this painting, I want to capture a peaceful feeling, a feeling someone may get when they are truly at ease. The soft greens blending into each other in the background are supposed to amplify this feeling.
Mixed media
Psychotic depression is a very serious mental illness that occurs when a person has severe depression and some form of psychosis, such as fixed beliefs (delusions) and hallucinations. In this piece, I wanted to emulate the chaos and distress that having psychotic depression can bring. Although this piece is meant to be chaotic, it is also simple in order to show what psychotic depression looks like from the outside. But, as with all mental illnesses, the inside is much more complex and must be taken seriously.
In my painting "Fantasy Forest" I wanted to do something fun so I decided to do a postcard from an imaginary place. We all have something we wished existed and for me thats mythical creatures. I wanted to show how amusing it would to see little mushroom people freely roam around.
Digital Artwork
In my art piece, The Future, my goal was to make the people who look at it think about their future and what they expect themselves to look like. Before this project, I never really tried to look far into the future or think about my future appearance. By doing this project, I was able to visualize myself around 50-60 years from now, and I was able to think about what my life would be like. My hope was that with this artwork, other people who were like me would also be able to think about their future and where they think they will end up in life.
This is a page from a children's book that is a work in progress (Digital).
This page illustrates loneliness and the regret of self isolation. We see among the leaves that an axolotl sits by himself. While surrounded by the calm morning beauty of the lotus pond, he decides that he must do more for himself to achieve happiness. It may feel good at first, but we often realize that being alone isn't everything we want.
The Exorcist is supposed to leave a lasting impression after for the viewer after viewing this piece of art, the art piece is inspired by old Chinese horror films, the 3 characters in the painting all represent 3 different time periods from Qin dynasty to present. I named it “The Exorcist” because even though the art represent (Yin) or darkness the theme is Yang or (bright) for example in Chinese mythology mahogany is a type of object that will restraint Yin object from entering the Mortal world and the character in the middle witch is a Qing dynasty zombie has it around its neck. Many more Yang objects are placed in the art piece like the seal on the zombies head, clay for the terracotta on the left, firecracker….etc.
Fall
Crochet
Fall is my favorite season, the colors all around become muted. The green and pink are meant to evoke the ways in which the summer goes. The brown oranges represent the new season.
Sitting
I find the art process more enjoyable when I create something without intent and puzzle out its meaning afterwards. I think this piece feels more ambiguous, but if I had to say, it represents a moment of reflection. Whether it be about the dog they saw along their walk or nothing at all, I imagine that the character is thinking quite hard (despite the invisible head).
Labeled
Femininity is often seen as a bad thing in the present, with new-age feminism choosing to express negativity towards those who choose to pursue more "traditional" lifestyle choices. The message of empowerment in women has become skewed to solely defy things that seem to align with people's thoughts of an ideal woman, which not only just reinforces those stereotypes even more, but excludes women from a movement that's made for women. Barbie has had over 200 careers in countless fields, it should be inspiring instead of hindering to do that while wearing pink.
High school students created art pieces based off their favorite foods, focusing on recreating texture and flavor with their use of hue, value, and intensity. We compiled these culinary and artistic masterpieces into a cookbook.
