2023-

The Lord Botetourt Cavaliers season came to an end as they faced Radford bound Mason Self of Christiansburg on the mound and lost 9-2 in the region quarterfinals.  The loss concluded a very positive year, as the Cavs finished with a 15-8 record and won the Blue Ridge Tournament for the second straight year.  With only three returning starters from the previous year, the Cavaliers should be proud of the accomplishments of this year's squad.  Several players were recognized at the district and region levels for their play during the season.  Noah Leonard, Nolan Medley, JJ Tyree, and Noah Donaho all earned first team All-Blue Ridge District.  Jackson Smith, Brayden Wells,  and Caleb O'Quinn earned 2nd team honors.  For the All-Region team, Nolan Medley, Noah Leonard, Jackson Smith, and Brayden Wells all earned 2nd team All-Region.  JJ Tyree, Noah Donaho, Jack Vargo, and Caleb O'Quinn each earned Honorable Mention.

2022-

The LB Cavaliers had an up and down season, but overall finished with a very solid 15-7 record and 8-4 in the Blue Ridge District.  They finished as the 4th seed in BRD tournament, but beat # 1 seed William Byrd and then # 2 seed Franklin County to claim the BRD Tournament Championship.  Unfortunately, the Cavaliers ran into a red hot Cave Spring team in the first round of regionals and lost 9-3.  Several players were recognized for their great season, as Nathan Prince (OF/P), Owen Prince (C), Connor Fuhrman (OF), and Garrett Green (SS) were all voted to the All-Blue Ridge District 1st Team.  Andrew Claterbaugh (2B) was named to the 2nd team and Seth Richards (1B) earned Honorable Mention status.  For the All-Region team, Connor Fuhrman (OF) was voted to the 1st team, Nathan Prince (OF) and Owen Prince (C) were named to the 2nd team, and Garrett Green (SS) was named as Honorable Mention.   Once again, a pretty successful season for the LB Cavaliers and we wish our seniors much success in the future.

2021 -

The Lord Botetourt Cavaliers season came to an end when they traveled to Tunstall for a 4 vs 5 seed matchup in the Region 3D Tournament and lost 5-1.  The season started out hot, scoring 76 runs in their first 5 games to start out 5-0.  But things settled down over the next few games and they finished the season with great 4-3 win at home against Northside (a game that took three tries to finish due to weather).  The Cavs finished the COVID-19 shortened regular season with an 8-4 record and earned the 5th seed in the Region 3D Tournament.  That set up the match-up with a Tunstall team that came in with a 10-2 record.  The Cavaliers battled but couldn't get enough clutch hits to win and came home as a 5-1 loser.  Several players were recognized for their great season, as Nathan Prince (OF), Carson Peggins (3B), Connor Fuhrman (SS), and Owen Prince (C) were all named to the All-District 1st Team.  Matt Oliver (OF/P), Luke Richards (1B), Sammy Peery (2B), and Peggins (P) were named to the 2nd Team.  For the All Region Team, Nathan Prince (OF), Owen Prince (C), and Connor Fuhrman (SS) all made the 1st team, while Sammy Peery (2B) was named to the 2nd Team.  All in all, it was pretty successful season for the Cavaliers, but more importantly, they were able to get back on the field and play the game they love.

2020 -

After great scrimmages against Brookville, Rustburg, and Hidden Valley, the 2020 season came to a crashing halt due to COVID-19.  We learned the Friday before our season was going to begin that spring sports were being put on hold, and later cancelled all-together.  It was going to be a promising season for the defending Region 3D champions, but unfortunately it ended before it really started.  It's especially sad for the seniors that missed out on their final year of high school baseball.  We will miss Cody Camper, Brae Farrell, Luke Hale, Thomas Moughin, and Hunter Ponce and wish them nothing but the best in the future.

2019-

The Lord Botetourt Cavaliers season came to an end when they ran into equally hot Brookville Bee's team in the 1st round of the Group 3A State Tournament and lost 6-2.  The loss ended what was a great run through the Region 3D tournament where the Cavaliers traveled to #3 seed Tunstall and won 10-7.  Next they played the # 2 seed Christiansburg Blue Demons and faced Virginia Tech bound pitcher Brady Kirtner.  Jarod Arnholt, Carson Peggins, and Dylan Fralin each homered in leading the Cavs to the 5-2 victory.  Then the Cavs beat the top seed Abingdon Falcons 13-7 to claim the first ever Region title for the school.

The Cavaliers finished the season with a 15-9 record, 5-3 in the Blue Ridge District.  Several Cavs received post-season awards at the district, region, and state level.  Brae Farrell (OF, P), Kyle Arnholt (OF) and Colston Powers (DH) were all named to the Blue Ridge District 1st team.  Matthew Oliver (OF), Meade Mayo (1B), Jake Dewease (2B), Connor Fuhrman (SS), and Farrell (Utility) were named to the Blue Ridge District 2nd team.  At the region level, Brae Farrell was named to the 1st team as both an outfielder and pitcher.  Connor Fuhrman (SS) and Kyle Arnholt (OF) were both named to the Region 3D 2nd team.  Finally, Brae Farrell was named to the Group 3A All-State 2nd team as an outfielder.

2018-

How about a 3-peat!!  The LB Baseball team won their 3rd Blue Ridge District Championship in a row, going 16-5 overall and 6-2 in the highly competitive district.  Due to a change in the post-season format, there wasn't a post-season district tournament this year.  By winning the district regular season and a combination of points earned through wins, LB was the 3 seed in the 8 team region tournament.  In the first Round, Lord Botetourt hosted and defeated Alleghany 9-2.  With the win, the set up the Region semifinal game against Abingdon High School, in Abingdon.  Led by Cade Hungate (Florida State) and 4 other Division I signee's, Abingdon beat LB 17-1 and ended their season.

Several Cavaliers received post-season honors, as Patrick Kepler (outfielder and pitcher), Bryce Kelly (outfield), Meade Mayo (1st base), Caleb Franklin (2nd base), Drew Bond (shortstop), Logan Wood (DH), and Hunter Duke (pitcher) all made 1st team Blue Ridge District.  Making the 2nd team were Hunter Duke (outfield), Jake Dewease (3rd base), and Logan Wood (catcher).  Caleb Franklin was named the District Player of the Year and Patrick Kepler was named the District Pitcher of the Year.

Patrick Kepler (outfield) and Caleb Franklin (2nd base) were both named to All-Region 3D 1st team.  Kepler was also selected for the second team as a pitcher, along with Drew Bond as a shortstop.  Caleb Franklin was also nominated as the 2nd team 3A All-State 2nd baseman.

2017 -

Back to back Blue Ridge District Champions!!  The LB Baseball team finished a solid year, going 13-8 overall and 9-3 in the BRD.  They won the district regular season title again, and advanced to the Tournament Championship game.  However, the Cavaliers came up short in a hard fought 9-5 loss to Northside.  By advancing to the championship game, the Cavs earned a spot in the Region III tournament.  Unfortunately, they were sent to play eventual state champion Turner Ashby in the first round.   Facing several future Division I players, the Cavs hung close, but just couldn't get the clutch hits when they needed, and lost 6-2.  Several Cavaliers received post-season honors, as Ty Maust (shortstop) and Caleb Franklin (2nd base) each were named to the Blue Ridge District 1st team.  Patrick Kepler (pitcher), Hunter Duke (outfield), and Bryce Kelly (outfield) were named to the 2nd Team.  Maust was also selected the District Player of the Year.  Adding to his awards, Maust was also selected as the Region 3D 1st team shortstop and was named to the 3A All-state 2nd Team.

2016 -

The LB Baseball team finished another remarkable year, going 16-5 and 9-3 in the Blue Ridge District.  They won the Blue Ridge District Regular season title, but lost in the first round of the Conference 31 tournament.  With a first round bye, the Cavaliers faced a red-hot Magna Vista team that got timely hits and made key pitches to preserve the 8-1 victory.  The Warriors went on to beat Staunton River in the championship game and earn the top seed for Conference 31 in the Region 3A West tournament.  The season featured many highlights, including district sweeps of Alleghany, William Byrd, Rockbridge, and William Fleming.  It also featured several Cavaliers being recognized with post-season awards.  Representing LB on the Conference 31 and Blue Ridge District first team were Matt Henderlite (pitcher), Ryan Fralin (outfield), and Alex Snyder (catcher).  The second team for both all-conference and all-district included Ryan Fralin (pitcher), Caleb Franklin (3rd base), Ty Maust (utility/shortstop), and Dakota Duke (DH).  Alex Snyder was selected on the 1st team All-Region 3A West as a catcher and was also placed on the All-State 2nd team.

2015-

The LB Baseball team couldn't catch enough breaks this season and finished with an 8-13 record, going 4-9 in the Blue Ridge District.  Things looked optimistic as they started out 7-4, but the hits stopped coming as they never seemed to get that clutch hit to get over the hump.  Of the 13 losses, 9 were by 3 runs or less, and 4 were by only one run.  Needless to say, the boys fought hard every game, but just kept coming up on the short-end.  The season finished with a 8-7 loss to 2nd seeded William Byrd Terriers in the Conference 31 Tournament.  The Cavaliers jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead and increased it to 7-2 until the bottom of the 6th inning.  Byrd rallied to score 5 runs in the frame to tie the game, and then extended their season by scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 8th.  The Cavs left everything on the field that day, but the upset was denied.  Several Cavaliers were honored with post-season awards, as Ryan Fralin (OF) and Chance Henry (DH) were each named to the Conference 31 1st Team, while Alex Snyder (C) was named to the Conference 31 2nd Team.  Chance Henry was later nominated to the Region 3A West 2nd team as a Designated Hitter.

2014-

The LB Baseball team finished the season with a solid and respectful 12-8 record, going 8-5 in the Blue Ridge District.  With only 1 returning starter from the previous season, the Cavaliers battled youth and inexperience at the beginning of the season and started out with a 3-6 record.  But the guys kept working hard and went on an 8 game winning streak to finish the regular season.  After beating Magna Vista 5-0 in the first round of the Conference 31 Tournament, the Cavaliers were held without a hit against Daniel Brammer and the Northside Vikings.  LB lost 3-0 to the Vikings and thus there season came to an end.  Several Cavs were honored with post season awards, as Ryan Fralin and Nick Webb each made 1st team All BRD, as an outfielder and infielder respectively.  Aaron Rock (catcher), Adam Thompson (pitcher) and Chance Henry(DH) made the All BRD 2nd Team.  For the All Conference 31 Teams, Aaron Rock (catcher), Ryan Fralin (outfield), and Nick Webb(infield) all earned 1st Team status.  Adam Thompson (outfield) and Chance Henry (DH) made the 2nd team All Conference 31.  Aaron Rock (catcher) and Ryan Fralin (outfield) earned 2nd Team All Region 3A West, while Nick Webb (infield) all earned Honorable Mention for all region team.

The graduating seniors Aaron Rock, Nathan McClellan, Mitch Reavis, Adam Thompson, and Nick Webb will be missed, but hopefully the younger guys will keep working hard and continue building on the program.

2013-

The LB Baseball team didn't quite have the year that was expected, but still should be considered a successful season.  After getting off to a good start at 14-3, the Cavaliers struggled down the stretch and lost their last three games.  LB lost in the first round of the Blue Ridge District Tournament to Ryan Coale and Rockbridge County, thus ending the season.  Even though the 14-6 season ranks among the best at the school, the team and coaching staff felt that it was a very underachieving year.  With 14 seniors coming off of a 19 win team, the future looked bright.  But things just didn't work the way they were planned, and the season came to a drastic halt in the first round of the district tournament.  Several Cav's were honored with postseason awards, as Zack Kelly was named 1st team All-District Outfielder and Pitcher.  Michael Mnich made 1st team Utility and 2nd team Pitcher and Infield.  Ryan Oliver earned 1st team as an Infielder and Matt Burd earned 2nd team Infield. Zack Kelly and Ryan Oliver were each named to the All-Region team, as an Outfielder and Infielder respectively.

The season may not have finished where everyone wanted, but it was something to be proud of.  We are going to miss the 14 seniors that are moving on, several to play baseball at the next level.  Good luck to them, and the rest of the guys need to prepare to get back to work.

2012-

The LB Baseball team finished with one of the best seasons in school history, posting a 19-3 record, and a perfect 10-0 Blue Ridge District regular season.  By going undefeated in the regular season, the Cavaliers were able to win their 2nd consecutive Regular Season Title.  The Cavs began the season with a 2-1 record, and then rolled out 16 straight wins before losing to William Byrd in the BRD tournament.  But LB responded well by defeating EC Glass in the first round of the Region III tournament.  The win against EC Glass set-up a rematch of the past two region tournaments, as LB faced a tough Brookville Bee team.  And once again, the Bee's were able to end the season for the Cavaliers with a 2-1 victory.  Michael Mnich was sensational on the mound, allowing only 4 hits, but it wasn't enough.  As David Goulding of Brookville took a no-hitter into the 7th inning, only to have it broken up by a Will Cline single.  Several Cavs took home post-season awards, as Dylan Powers and Will Cline each were named to the All-State 1st team.  Zack Kelly was named to the Honorable Mention All-State team.  Powers, Cline, and Kelly were all named 1st team All-Region III, Michael Mnich made the 2nd team, and Conner Bronson and Landon Ward made Honorable Mention.  In the All-Blue Ridge District voting, Dylan Powers was named District Player of the Year, and he joined Zack Kelly (Pitcher & Outfield), Will Cline (Catcher), Conner Bronson (Outfield), Michael Mnich (Pitcher), and Landon Ward (Utility) on the 1st Team for All-Blue Ridge District.

The season ended one-step away from the state tournament, but it was a very positive and productive season for the Cavaliers.  Congratulations on a great season!!

2011-

The LB Baseball team finished another remarkable season, going 15-7, and 6-3 in the Blue Ridge District.  The Cavaliers accomplished a big goal this year by winning the BRD Regular Season Title for the first time in over 20 years.  The Cavs jumped out and won there first 6 games in the district regular season, thus clinching the title with two games left to be played.  However the fun would be over as the Cavaliers ran into some hot playing teams and lost there last four games, including the heartbreaker against Brookville in the Region III Quarterfinal.  The Bees and the Cavs met again for the region match-up, and again Brookville finished on top.   LB seemed to have mounted a great comeback and had a 7-5 lead going into the top of the 7th inning, but a few "seeing eye" singles and a shot in the gap tied the game up.  Another RBI basehit sent the go ahead run in for the Bees and the Cavs were never able to recover in the bottom of the inning.

Even though the season did not end the way everyone had hoped, the Cavaliers still had a season that they should be proud of.  Several players earned post-season accolades, as Martin Henderlite, Taylor Toppel, Lincoln Evans, and Dylan Powers all received 1st Team All-District Status.  To top it off, Martin Henderlite was rewarded with the District Player of the Year award.  Henderlite and Powers also received 1st Team All-Region awards, as Evans and Toppel earned Region Honorable Mention.  To finish off the awards, both Martin Henderlite and Dylan Powers also earned All-State Honorable mention status.

All in all, the season was very successful and the boys should be very proud.  They finally met a long standing goal, to put up a banner in the gym!!  Congrats on a great run.

2010-

The LB Baseball team just finished a remarkable season, going 16 - 7, and 7 -3 in the Blue Ridge District.  After starting off the district with a  1-3 record, the Cavs went on to win their last 4 district games to finish one game behind William Byrd with a 5-3 record.  Due to the split with Northside in the regular season, and by beating Byrd during the regular season, the Cavs secured the # 2 seed in the BRD Tournament.  The Cavaliers beat Northside in the first round game, and then beat Alleghany 12 - 0 in the District Championship.  After the game, Lincoln Evans, Brett Carroll, Robert Patton, Dylan Powers, and Martin Henderlite were all honored as being named to the 1st Team All-District team.

By winning the district tournament, the Cavaliers became the # 2 seed from the BRD in the Region III Tournament, thus earning a home game for the first round.  But the Brookville Bee's got the clutch hits that were needed to prevail 7-3, thus ending the season for Lord Botetourt.  The Cavaliers finished the season with 16 wins, most in school history, and with several players breaking single season school records.  Brett Carroll broke the school record with hits ( 32 ), Lincoln Evans broke the school record with runs scored, and Jame O'Neill tied the school record with 3 saves.

Congratulations on a very successful season.  Seniors, you will be missed, as you have set the groundwork for the guys behind you to build upon.  Work hard during the off-season guys and let's pick up where we left off.
