ATtendance

Students are responsible for all material presented in class. Due to the nature of musical rehearsal, absences result in missed learning opportunities which are impossible to make up and do affect learning both at the individual and group level. The student’s performance in the class indirectly reflects attendance. If a student is out of class for an extended period of time, he/she should be sure to contact the director personally ASAP so that special arrangements can be made. This class will require some time outside of the regular school day. (See After School and Field Trips)

Concerts and Events

Excused Absences:

  • During the school day this will be decided by the school attendance officer. Outside of the regular school day, an excused absence is only given by the discretion of the director.

  • If a student is absent from a performance or dress rehearsal, he/she will be expected to complete an alternate assignment due within 2 weeks of the concert.

  • CONCERT AND REHEARSAL MAKEUP ASSIGNMENT

Unexcused Absence:

  • During the school day this will be decided by the school attendance officer.

  • The following are considered unexcused absences or tardies: suspension, after school detention, making up class work, no ride to or from event.

  • Every effort will be given for adequate notice of performing events so arrangements may be made by students - at least 1 month or more if possible.

  • Any person unable to attend a concert or extra rehearsal will notify the director in writing prior to the event with an explanation of the excuse. It will be excused or unexcused at the discretion of the director.
