Lovett/Taylor 5th Grade Team - Meet the Teacher

Ms. Kelly Lovett

This is my 19th year teaching at Bay Haven, and my 10th year with Mrs. Christi Taylor. I have three children: James Aaron (a Veterinarian in Tally) and his wife, Nicole; Cooper (a Fit Factory gym coach living in Nashville) and his wife, Taylor; and Abby (a teacher in Gainesville) and her husband, Nathan. I am expecting TWO grandbabies in August: Baby Nellie and Baby Wilson. I am so excited to be a Mama K!

I LOVE animals...I have a Shih Tzu named Gidget, a Dachshund named Darcy, and two cats: Hamilton and Addie; I also have a leopard gecko named Rango. I attended the University of Florida (GO GATORS! You FSU fans, please, don't hold it against me!), and have been teaching (in and out of the district) since 1991--can't believe this is year 34!

I love to read, workout, take walks, spend time with my kids when I get the chance, spend time with my family and friends, get manicures and pedicures (I'm a girly-girl), eat out with my family, go to the movies, go shopping, and worship at my church every week. Starbucks is a favorite place to meet my parents every Saturday morning (although I DON'T drink coffee), spending time in the great outdoors, and singing makes me happy.

As an educator, I believe ALL students can learn, and it's my desire to make learning fun...I hope your student can't WAIT to come to class everyday! I LOVE my students! My prayer is that this will be one of your student's BEST years ever!

Mrs. Christi Taylor

This is my 10th year teaching at Bay Haven. I am married to Steve Taylor, who is the pastor at Emerald Coast Fellowship. We have been married for 30 years and have two children. Ali is a mental health counselor, and Austin is a junior at the University of Mobile. I am a dog-lover, especially the little fluffy ones. Just like Mrs. Lovett, I have a Shih Tzu puppy named Nala.

I received a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism/Mass Communications from Samford University in Birmingham, AL and a Master's Degree from University of West FL. I like to say that teaching is my 3rd career. I started off working in public relations, then I was a stay-home mom for 17 years, and now I am an elementary school teacher. Growing up I never thought I would be a teacher, but now I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Outside of school, my hobbies include bargain shopping, working in the yard, reading, walking, singing at my church, and spending time with my family. I am also a big Florida State fan (GO SEMINOLES!). Mrs. Lovett and I enjoy a healthy rivalry over our favorite teams.

I am so blessed to be able to work at Bay Haven and teach the best kids in Bay County -- your kids. I am passionate about my students and am looking forward to investing in them this year as we learn and grow together as a TEAM. This is going to be an amazing year. Let's do this!
