Hi! My name is Lisa Bell and I have been teaching since 2011. I have a passion for what I do. I taught for 8 years at East Elementary, 1 year at BMS, and have been at the High School since August 2020. The change has been great; I love seeing how much the student talent grows over the years! They impress me daily. The students and I work hard at learning to be artists by experimenting, making creative choices, problem solving, collaborating with peers, and reflecting on our learning.
Education: I grew up in Ankeny and practically lived in the art rooms in high school. I earned a Bachelor degree in Arts Management from Buena Vista University before deciding to become a teacher. I earned my Art Education and Graphic Design degrees from Grand View University.
Hobbies & Other Facts: I got married in June, 2021 to Scott Bell. We have a white cat named Wilco and a brown dog named Stevie. The two fur babies and my husband are my life and the best family I could ever ask for! Aside from art, I love books. I always have one book I'm reading and one I'm listening to. Harry Potter is definitely a favorite. I love all colors but blues and greens are my favorite. Legos are amazing. I love swimming and bike-riding in the summer. My favorite painting is "The Old Guitarist" by Pablo Picasso. I love dairy free chocolate, anything with sugar, coffee, tea, French fries, and wintergreen mints. Scott and I love traveling. We take Stevie with us when we can, especially to places like Colorado where we can hike and have fun outdoor adventures. I enjoy thrill seeking adventures, like skydiving, zip lining, and roller coasters. It's a bucket list desire to go spelunking someday!
