A teacher has requested a list of initial passwords has been requested. What is the quickest way to do this?: A list can be created from going to Start Page > Teacher Schedules. On the teacher schedule page, select the section you wish to create a list of student passwords for by clicking on this following icon.

A new window will appear listing the class roster of students.

Beside the initial password are two columns titled ‘Password Revised’ and ‘Account Created’.

    • Password Revised - This column will give an approximate date and time of when the password was last changed. Many of students listed will have a date of 8/10/2016 of when the last time the password was revised.

    • Account Created - This column will give the date and time of when the single user authentication account was first created. Many of the accounts will have a date ranging from the 2015-16 school year.

The dates in the ‘Password Revised’ and ‘Account Created’ provides hints into a student’s account.

    • If the dates in the ‘Password Revised’ and ‘Account Created’ are the same, then the student likely has not changed the initial password.

    • If the date shown in the ‘Password Revised’ is close to the current date, then the password was changed recently changed.

I need to generate this same list, but for many teachers: The best way to accomplish this is through the Class Rosters (PDF) report inside of the admin portal [http://ps.ausd.us/admin] of PowerSchool.

    1. On the start page, choose System Reports from the main menu. The Reports page appears.

    1. On the System tab, click Class Rosters (PDF). The Class Rosters (PDF) page appears.

    1. From the drop-down menu on the Class Rosters (PDF) page, select ‘Student Logins and Initial Passwords’ report.

.

    1. Next, select the teachers and periods to generate this report by.

By Teacher (Hold the Ctrl key to make multiple selections):

By Period (Leave all the checkboxes unchecked to select all the different periods):

    1. Click Submit. The report queue appears.

    2. Click View once the report is completed.

Note: Click Refresh to update the status of the report.

    1. The page displays a PDF file of the report. Thoroughly review it to verify that the formatting and content are correct. If the report provides the data you need and is formatted properly, print it from this page or save it to another application.

Extraordinary Circumstances: Changing the student passwords to a more random string of characters allows for a method to gain entry into district computers and systems that is harder to guess.

Passwords are meant to accomplish two goals:

    • To prove the identity of a person in order to gain entry to a resource.

    • Prevent those who are not that person from gaining entry.

There will be people at your school like the site technicians who be to assist with problems for student passwords. Please talk with these people as well as your school administrator about extraordinary circumstances.
