FALL

• Prepare to take your final SAT and/ACT. Take these tests as soon as possible as deadlines for applications and scholarships may come sooner than you expect

•  Narrow down your list of colleges to the schools you’re most interested in (make sure those schools offer the degree you are interested in!)

• Start your admission and scholarship applications. Many colleges have early deadlines for their scholarships

• Some applications may require a letter of recommendation—make sure you give your letter writer at least two weeks notice

• Know which colleges require admission essays—make sure you have a teacher or counselor proofread

• Send transcripts and test scores

• Financial Aid: The FAFSA can be filled out online beginning October 1st (this is awesome!) It means you will find out sooner what types of aid you qualify for

    Winter

• Follow up with the colleges you have applied to (have you requested final transcripts and test scores to be sent?)

• Send any additional information for admission or financial aid

• Keep searching and applying for scholarships

 Spring

• Compare financial aid packages from each college—make sure you understand what your total cost will be (tuition, books, fees, room, board, and housing)

• Once you have made your final choice, notify the school and follow up with housing and meal plans

• Accept your financial aid

• Make plans to attend orientation

• Keep searching and applying for scholarships!
