The FHUHS Alternative Learning Program (Annex) is an educational program that is offered for students at Fair Haven Union High School.
The mission of the Annex is to facilitate intensive, individualized, experiential learning opportunities in order to provide academic success and social-emotional well-being for students.
The FHUHS Learning Annex is on the FHUHS main campus and provides flexible pathways in a smaller environment. The purpose of the Annex is to support FHUHS students whose needs cannot be met in the traditional classroom and/or assist students who wish to incorporate personalized, experiential learning into their educational career. Students may be in the Annex full-time or part-time, depending upon the needs of the student.
This may include a blend of online classes, proficiency-based projects, work-based learning, service learning, etc. for full credit, partial credit, and/or credit recovery.
Students and their parents/guardians will design an educational program with the Learning Annex Program Director, the Annex’s School-based Clinician, FHUHS teachers, school counselors, and administration that will fulfill proficiency-based graduation requirements. This program is dependent upon inquiry-driven, project-based learning. Project-based learning will encompass a student’s particular interests and provide a focused, meaningful learning opportunity in a supportive environment built around Positive Behavior Intervention (PBIS) strategies.
Students will be required to set and reflect upon weekly goals, and they must present a portfolio of their work at the end of each semester.
