Background
I am new to Arrowhead High School this year. Previously, I taught math and science for seven years at Skyview Junior High in Bothell, WA. I may be new to Arrowhead this year, but I am not new to Wisconsin. I grew up in Mequon, WI and went to the University of Wisconsin (GO BADGERS!).
My accolades include:
B.S. Kinesiology, University of Wisconsin-Madison
M.S. Curriculum & Instruction, Concordia University
National Board Certified
I am certified in both Wisconsin and Washington to teach general science, math, biology, and chemistry.
Interests
Spending time with my husband and three young boys, Brayden (5), Luke (2.5), and Samuel (0.5). I also thoroughly enjoy doing outdoor activities. My favorite activities include running (10 marathons so far), hiking, skiing, and biking. I also love traveling and I have been to 5 out of the 7 continents.
Teaching Philosophy
My classroom is a dynamic and fluid environment that allows the free exchange of thoughts and ideas. My classroom is a safe place designed to build-up confidence through consistent and constructive feedback. My classroom is student-centered, where students and I tackle new concepts together. Education is a portal to a greater understanding of the world, and should not end once the student leaves the classroom. Strengthening social and moral behavior is as important as the subject matter. I will prepare my students to be contributing members of society by developing their tools to analyze, process, and interpret the world.
"The whole of science is nothing more than a refinement of everyday thinking. " ~Albert Einstein
