Today’s students are growing up surrounded by digital media; it's infused into virtually every aspect of their lives. Modern educators should and are embracing the digital age by integrating digital media into their courses. The problem is that there's just too much to sort through, it's impossible for teachers to find and review every resource out there.
One solution is to delegate this task to students. By sending students out to survey online resources, a class can up the amount of resources they can review by an order of magnitude.
Crowdsourcing resources is an effective and efficient way to empower students to find quality resources; this also involves students in the learning process while teaching digital literacy
Typical classes teach from textbooks that are fixed in time, rigid, and destined to become antiquated, usually before they are taken out of circulation.
Students have access to a wealth of information online. Assignments should take advantage of open-source classes, relevant articles, educational videos, and other resources that teach course objectives in engaging and effective ways that are tailored to individual student needs.
Problem: Teachers do not have the time to hunt down every new wonderful resource that the web has to offer.
Solution: Have students crowdsource to find the them!
