Philosophy
- Gifted and talented students demonstrate high potential and/or performance in intellectual creative, artistic, leadership, or specific academic areas. The school District of Argyle seeks to assure that their special needs are understood and accommodated throughout the K-12 program. This is consistent with the belief that all students are entitled to an education commensurate with their abilities and reasonable interests.
- Gifted and talented students are identified through multiple criteria and offered systematic and continuous instruction or activities deemed appropriate to their developmental capabilities. This is accomplished by differentiation of the regular curriculum, special group programming, and individualized services to their unique educational needs.
PROGRAM DELIVERY
- Parents act as students' primary guides and talent developers
- Classroom teachers plan for all identified students K-12 and communicate plans to parents and students
- Administrators encourage and help supervise gifted programming
- Guidance counselor and psychologist provide support in meeting social, emotional and career needs
- School psychologist provides testing and psychometric information as needed
- Volunteer students, parents, and community members help with programming
- Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee makes recommendations
- Gifted and Talented Specialist coordinates all activities of the program
