Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to Cibola High School! I am happy to have your student enrolled in my Personal Financial Literacy class this semester. It’s an exciting time for them as they begin high school, and I’m honored to be part of their journey. Personal Financial Literacy is one of the most important life skills your student can learn. Throughout the semester, we will explore real-world financial topics such as:
Creating and managing a budget
Saving for big purchases
Planning for college and retirement
Understanding banking, credit, and interest rates
Using apps to track spending
Identifying barriers to saving
Learning about responsible financial decision-making
In order to be successful in class, students should come prepared with:
A notebook with pockets to store assignments
Pens, pencils, and highlighters
Markers and glue sticks for occasional poster projects
If possible, donations of a box of Kleenex or Clorox wipes would be greatly appreciated and helpful in keeping our classroom clean and welcoming.
To help students apply what they’re learning, it would be beneficial if they received a small allowance, had the opportunity to earn money by doing chores around the house, or took on small tasks such as babysitting or mowing lawns. This will allow them to track their spending and make informed choices—an essential part of the learning process.
Please provide a phone number where I can call or text you about your student.. I believe strong communication between home and school is key to your student’s success.
Thank you again for your support and for being part of our school community. I’m looking forward to a fantastic semester with your student!
Warm regards,
Suzette Williams
