RAMS THEATRE 2021 ZOOM STUDENT WRITTEN WINTER ONE-ACTS

"Elve-pire" - by: Evelyn Woulfe & Mia Carrico

"Guitar Riffs Forever" - by: Evan Bierscheid

"Game of Cards" - by: Victoria Yang, Nadia Richardson & Ava O'Neal

What an adventure we have been on the last couple of months as we stepped off of the stage and onto the computer to produce our RAMS Theatre winter production! It has been such a delight to work on these 3 amazing student written one-acts with RAMS and PCS students on Zoom!

We started in October with a small group of students who met once a week to learn about and write one-acts with our resident playwright, Joan Linck and RAMS Theatre director, Linsey Owen. Each show was so fun and so different! Ms. Owen and Ms. Linck then spent time editing each show for content, time, number of characters, and flow.

After returning from winter break students auditioned in a different way - by uploading a video of themselves performing a short monologue. Zoom rehearsals started the next week where we got to dig into our characters and each show in small groups once a week. Props students picked up bags of materials created by our props master, Peg Cavanaugh, to make props at home and background designers got to work creating the virtual Zoom images. Each props maker had to then return their made props to RAMS where they were combined with costumes by DeAnn O'Connell to then be picked up by the actors.

We sure have learned a whole lot about so many different things over the last 7 weeks! One thing we learned was that the wonderful headpieces the props department made got absorbed by the virtual backgrounds making the actors look bald! Eek! We were so sad we couldn't use them because they were so cool. We spent over an hour and a half recording each show and then director and video editor, Linsey Owen, spent many an hour editing each show; cutting clips and inserting music and the SFX created by Joe Dodge using iMovie. We hope you enjoy each of these fun shows! Click on the links above to be brought to each show in the Google Drive! Don't miss the blooper reel at the end of each show!
