What We Do
RAMS Theatre is an after school program that any student can be involved in! Our motto, "A Spotlight for Everyone", means we will find you a place on or off the RAMS Theatre Stage! We produce 3 productions a year along with a few other theatrical activities thrown in the mix as well. We are an all inclusive program that serves all 7th and 8th grade students from the district including both RAMS and PCS. Students can be involved on and off the stage in a wide variety of ways; acting, singing, dancing, building and painting the set, creating costumes or props, lighting and sound, and writing. While theatre takes a lot of hard work we also have a whole of fun working together to produce something magical!
FALL: Playwriting workshop - students will work to write their own productions to be performed during the winter one-acts.
FALL: Play - performs in mid-November.
WINTER: Student Written One-Acts (written in the fall) - performs mid-February
WINTER: Improv lead by RAHSProv students - performs late February/early March
SPRING: Musical - performs early to mid-May

Ways You Can Be Involved in the RAMS Theatre
The time commitment varies according to which “part” you play or which job you have in the show
As An Actor: Actors must audition! Audition information is posted in the hallways, on the RAMS Theatre bulletin board outside of the cafeteria and in the Schoology announcements so that you can prepare. Students only need to come to one audition day after school unless we need to see you another time and then you will be called back for an additional audition. Anyone who auditions will be a part of the cast! Students who audition to be an actor in a show will rehearse after school 2-5 days a week.
As A Crew Member: Crew will come to one of the after school audition dates to sign-up to participate in the crew. Because there are only so many jobs available for crew members, each production crew will have a limited number of 35 crew positions available. Crew positions that students work on are: prop making, set building and painting, costuming, lighting, sound and running crew. Students who choose to participate in the crew will stay after school one day a week.
Actors and crew members will come together for tech week when both groups will be in the RAMS Theatre for all dress rehearsals and the final performance weekend. Please see below for each shows audition dates, crew sign-up times, mandatory dress rehearsals and performance weekends.
If you choose to participate in a production there will be an activity fee for cast and crew to help cover costs of the productions (fees vary based on free/reduced lunch). Theatre students can also ride the activity buses home after rehearsal and crew.
Please note: Sports conflict with the play rehearsals during each of our three productions because they practice or have games every day after school at the same time theatre meets. Students will not be able to participate in a sport and theatre at the same time during the same season.

Linsey Owen is the RAMS Building Secretary by day and RAMS Theatre Director by afternoon. She has worked in the Roseville school district for 20+ years starting out as a substitute teachers before landing the role as Building Secretary 20 years ago. She has held many roles in the RAMS Theatre program starting out as a costumer and props manager and working her way into leading the program after the founder retired in 2010. You can find her in the Principal's Office assisting the administrative team or in the Theatre working with middle schoolers creating drama (they kind you want watch - not the kind you stir up!) :) She also likes to take walks through "The Enchated Forest" collecting lost golf balls with her 9 year old son, reading, knitting, painting and doing her own crafty projects at home.
Assistant Director & Props Master
Peg Cavanaugh is an art teacher by trade since 1993, and was hired to be the RAMS Theatre Props Master in 2011 and then Assistant Director in 2015. She is a Roseville resident with 2 adult sons who are both RAHS graduates and RAMS Theatre alumni. Making fun, inclusive, art with unconventional materials is Mrs. Cavanaugh’s passion. Middle school students are the most interesting people she has ever had the pleasure of working with.
