Coach Brian Billings: Head Varsity Coach

Brian Billings is entering his eleventh season as the varsity head coach at Anthony Wayne High School. Prior to that, he spent six years as an assistant coach with the Boys Program. In his eleven years in charge, the Generals have marched to an impressive record of 135-43-22 including two straight undefeated regular seasons (2012, 2013), six NLL Titles (2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021), eight District Titles (2012-2017, 2019-2020), a Regional Title (2013) and an appearance in the State Final Four (2013). The team has finished six seasons in the regular season OSSCA State Poll (7th- 2012, 2nd- 2013, 9th- 2016, 10th- 2017, 9th- 2019, 12th- 2021).

In addition to the the high school program, Coach Billings is an active coach for Anthony Wayne United Soccer Club. Having coached AW youth teams for the past 20 years, Brian is familiar with the developmental needs of youth players. In addition to club soccer, he has worked previously for the Olympic Development Program Staff, both with Ohio North and Region II. He currently holds an USC Advanced National Diploma, USSF National Youth License, and USSF D License.

Brian grew up in Anthony Wayne and played soccer for the AWYSL, Whitehouse Soccer Club, and then GTFC. He graduated from Anthony Wayne High School after 4 years in the high school soccer program. Brian attended Bowling Green State University where he earned both a BS in Integrated Social Studies Education and MEd. in Curriculum and Instruction with an Endorsement in Gifted Education. He is currently supervising gifted services for Anthony Wayne and Perrysburg and has a Doctorate of Education from The University of Findlay. Brian is an avid fan of the US Men's National Team and Arsenal in the EPL. He is married to Taylor Billings, a fellow AW graduate and soccer player, and has a son named Hugo, daughter named Penelope, son named Seamus and a Labradoodle named Henry.

Coach Ben Barrett: Assistant Varsity Coach

Ben Barrett is entering his fourth year in the AW High School Boys Soccer program. Coach Barrett graduated from AW in 2010. He played on 2 district title teams, where they finished as runner up in regionals in 2009 and lost in the final four in 2008. Coach Barrett has also been coaching at AW United off and on for the past 7 years.

Coach Barrett graduated from Lourdes University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in social work and is currently employed with Royalty Mooney & Moses. Coach Barrett is a Manchester United fan, as well as a fan of the US Men’s National Team. Coach Barrett lives in Waterville and married his wife, Amy last May.

Coach Diane Conway: JV Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach

Diane Conway is excited to be entering her first year in the AW High School Boys Soccer program. Coach Conway has been coaching boys at AW United off and on for many years.

Coach Conway is originally from Tallmadge, Ohio (NE Ohio) and played soccer growing up and all through high school. Moving to Toledo for college, she advanced her playing career by playing at the University of Toledo at the Club soccer level as well as the Division I Varsity level. Then, while earning her Master's degree from BGSU, she played club soccer for that university too. After finishing her college soccer career, Coach Conway continued to play soccer in local leagues year round, including playing in the premier level of the Great Lakes Women's Soccer League (GLWSL) in Michigan. With almost 40 years of playing experience at many different levels, Coach Conway is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and experience with the players. She is also a huge fan of the U.S. Women's National Team and enjoys taking road trips to watch them play.

Coach Conway earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Toledo in 1997, followed by a master's degree in statistics from BGSU in 1999. She has been a statistics instructor in the College of Business at BGSU since 2000 and a realtor with Danberry since 2015. She is currently working on her dissertation to earn her doctorate in Leadership Studies from BGSU. Coach Conway lives in Maumee and enjoys hiking and playing pickleball in her free time.
