Kitt Meredith - My name is Kitt Meredith, but everyone calls me "Mrs. Kitt." I am a Clemson graduate and am certified in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. This year, I have been thrilled to begin my journey as the Reading Coach at Calhoun Academy of the Arts. Teaching has been a passion of mine for more than 20 years, and most of that time has been spent as a kindergarten teacher in ASD1. Consequently, teaching young children to read has always been one of my strong suits. While most of my experience has been as an early childhood educator, I actually began my Career as a 3rd grade teacher at Calhoun years ago and taught there for 3 years. As a classroom teacher, I consistently believed the most crucial part of my job was to make children want to come to my classroom each day. I quickly learned that providing a safe, warm, loving, and fun environment where taking risks is encouraged and it is safe to make and learn from mistakes builds confident learners. Providing such an atmosphere where expectations are set high and each child is TRULY valued and respected is the key to hooking students into wanting to learn.
