Pep Band Lyres

Students wishing to participate in Pep Band performances (optional) should purchase a lyre - a piece that attaches the music to their instrument. The lyre would also be used for high school marching band.

Here is what's needed, by instrument:

Flute - Flutists' Friend - we have several for use, but you may purchase your own for use this year and in high school. Music store, or online

Clarinet - standard clarinet lyre, available at the music store or online

Sax - standard sax lyre, available at the music store or online

Trumpet - most trumpets will use a bent-stem lyre, but check with your instructor for the lyre type that will fit your trumpet. You can obtain the bent stem lyre at the music store or online

Trombone - Trombones should not purchase a lyre, because that configuration does not work well. Instead, trombones use a flip folder that clips onto the bell. We have several for use, but you may purchase your own for use this year and in high school. Music store, or online

For F horn, baritone, tuba, and percussion, there is no lyre to purchase now. Those instruments will have marching band versions for use in high school. For 8th grade pep band, these instruments will use music stands.
