We currently are working on extreme weather and the effects it has on us. This is a nonfiction unit that the kids will love just because weather is always around them. We will be learning about the water cycle, clouds, different kinds of weather and how weather effects everything around it.

Good questions to ask your child or have them write about.....

* What is the main idea of the text? Justify your answer.

* What is that important to the story, article, paper?

* What are some similarities and differences? justify your answer.

* Did you like the story and why?

* How might this story pertain to your life?

* What is something your would like to learn about?

We read many types of books with a focus on characters and how their decisions impact the path & sequencing of the story. We have been doing this through our reading program, but also using Teacher Choice books to help students see this in other books they might be reading.

* What was their motivation in the story?

* How did their decision impact the sequence of the story? justify your answer.

* Did you like the story and why?

* How might this story pertain to your life?
