Southern alaska

Talkeetna Arc

This Jurassic volcanic arc is accreted to southern Alaska. It is thought to be one of the world's best-preserved remnants of a complete ocean island arc, from mantle section to volcanic carapace. One unanswered question that remains is whether its exposures belong to a single arc, or multiple arcs intruded into different terranes.

Fault Rocks

Rocks in a fault zone preserve myriad deformation processes, from ductile creep to seismic slip. I am interested in the factors that influence rock behavior in fault zones, using field and lab analytical methods.

Aleutian Inclusions

Volcanoes of the active Aleutian volcanic arc bring to the surface samples of the magma chambers that feed them. I am interested in how rock compositions evolve in subduction-zone volcanoes.
