Assassination Links — Why WW1 began and who started WW1. Students cut out Assassination Links and paste onto either own personal timeline or on the one in Pg 4 of WW1 information

Gallipoli - The First Day — You will need your headphones for this. Great viewing! It re-enacts the landing at Gallipoli.

Horse Power Question Form — Lesson 4: Make a copy of the form and then share it with your class. You will be able to view their answers once they have submitted their answers. Student’s are to focus on answering the different questions on each level.

How did WW1 Change NZ? — Read through the article: How WW1 changed NZ. What were the benefits of NZ going to fight during WW1? Carry out personal research on what life was like in NZ during WW1 for the people left behind. Discussion questions: Who were the people left behind? What struggles would they be facing?

Lesson 5 & 6 Slide — Go through Lesson 5 + 6 slide explain each stage in the lead up to the war and watch videos to consolidate learning Identify the major events with students Lesson 6: Final stage when war is declared between Serbia and Austria and the counties that come on board for each side.

Lesson 7 — ANZAC’s and the Gallipoli campaign. Students start gaining an understanding of where NZ fits into WW1. Go through NZ History in WW1 on the NZ timeline in WW1 to get an overview of the sequence of events from how NZ prepared - what happened after the war ended.Read through and discuss main points of “war preparation” and “NZ goes to war” in Lesson 7 slides.

Lesson One — Introduction to ANZAC Student can gain an understanding of how unit will flow and expectations.Students create a KWL chart that can be discussed. Leave “L” blank to be filled in at the end of “immersion phase” of the inquiry unit

Lesson Two - NZ Defence Force — What is NZ’s role as a peacekeeping nation? Students can scan through the NZ defence force website and investigate current war information and NZ involvement.

Lesson Two - Sainsbury Ad — Watch both of the videos and discuss. Student Follow up activities can include: Create a Y-chart of things that a soldier might, feel, see and hear on Christmas day in WW1. Make a diary entry as though they were a soldier during WW1 after this christmas day event. How would it have felt? Try give as much detail as possible.
