Chromebook Won't Turn On/Doesn't Seem to Charge

The Lenovo 100e will sometimes not turn on or doesn't seem to charge. When this happens, the powercord has often gone into a "powersave mode."

To help remedy this:

Shutdown Chromebooks Often

Chromebooks do need to be fully shutdown often.  Opening and closing the lid does not actually shut it down.  To shutdown your device, click the bottom right on your toolbar and tell it to Shut Down.

Update Google Chrome

Google Chrome should update automatically, but if your Chromebook is off for any length of time (summer, fall break, etc.), you will need to check manually.

Update Google Chrome

Reset Google Chrome

To reset Google settings back to the default, click the three dots in the top right corner, click "Settings", scroll down and click "Advanced," scroll all the way down again and click "Restore settings to their original defaults."

Clear Cookies/Cache

The "invisible" clutter needs to be cleaned out of your Chromebook from time to time.  To do this, press Ctrl H, click "Clear browsing data," select "All Time" from the drop down menu, and click on "Clear data."

Login Information

Save your login information in a safe place.  Your user ID is everything before the @ sign.  This user ID is used for most programs on campus.  Your email address is Google powered, so you are able to login on another device by going to mail.google.com, just be sure to use the @aguafria.org not gmail.com.

Charge Chromebooks Nightly

Chromebooks need to be charged nightly.  The library does not loan chargers.  We encourage you to leave your charger at home as it is the first thing that is lost, swapped, or stolen.  To preserve battery life, do not charge anything to your Chromebook and fully power off your Chromebook versus just closing the lid.

Keyboard Typing Wrong Letters

The keyboard language will sometimes change itself with Chrome updates. The language had been changing from US English (US) to CO English (US) with Colemak keyboard.

Know Your Barcode Numbers

Please note that the barcodes on the charger and the Chromebook may not match one another. There is also a small label with your student ID on each device. Keep these labels on the devices to help you know which device is yours. Please do not add any additional stickers to your device. Cases are acceptable.

Chromebooks Don't Print

Our Chromebooks aren't setup for printing capabilities.  Print jobs are limited to ten pieces of paper daily (10 single sided or 20 double sided).  We will let you know once printing capabilities has been resumed.

Chromebook Overload

The Chromebook processor can only handle so much activity during your class time.  While in your video conferencing, only have 1-2 tabs open at a time.  The more you are doing on your Chromebook at one time may cause you to be bumped from your video conference which requires the most bandwidth and processing to run correctly.

Internet Connectivity Issues

In addition to clearing out cookies/cache, your modem may also need to be reset often.  To do so, unplug the power from the back of the modem, wait thirty seconds, then plug it back in.  This will help to fix internet connection problems and resolve wireless issues.  It's also best to limit other internet items such as watching videos, listening to music, etc. while in your video conferences.

Chromebook Facts

Millennium is a 1:1 technology school.  Students will be issued a school issued Chromebook day 1 or 2 of their enrollment. This Chromebook is intended to be their device all four years.  Information regarding our 1:1 program is embedded within the Students Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.  Personal devices are unable to be used on campus. WiFi is not granted for personal devices such as tablets, phones, laptops, etc.

Student Accounts

Student accounts go live within two hours after the student has been input into the system.  Chromebooks are issued once an account has gone active in our system.

Student usernames are everything before the @ sign on their email address.  This username and password is primarily used for everything on campus, including StudentVUE.  Please make sure you're leaving off the @aguafria.org when logging into to other platforms outside of the Google products.

Clever is an app on all student Chromebooks.  This app houses many of the applications teachers use in their classrooms.  This app allows you to login with your Google account one time, and it will then log you into every other application that is houses inside Clever automatically.

Cost/Fees for Device Repair and Replacement

Should the Chromebook stop working or become damaged, students need to go to the library to have it looked at immediately and given to our Librarian, Mrs. Zeller or our Library Clerk, Mrs. Stover to have our technician make an assessment. Once assessed, our site tech will do any and all repairs that are needed.

Please note the following:

Chromebook Device Protection Plan

The 23/24 Chromebook Device Protection Plan (DPP) will be available begining July 1st (or shortly after depending on when the link goes live). The DPP will be availalbe through Friday, September 8th.  After that date the plan is no longer available except for new students. New students have 2 weeks from their enrollment date to purchase from the bookstore.

Device Protection Plan (DPP)

There is no cost associated with 1:1 Technology Program.  Parents/Guardians have the opportunity to purchase a protection plan through the district.  The plan will cost $30 per device each school year, which includes repairs, and limits the fee for replacement.  Parents/ Guardians who choose not to purchase the Device Protection Plan are 100% responsible for all repair and replacement costs.

It is recommended that parents purchase the Device Protection Plan to minimize any costs that may arise during the school year.  The activation deadline for the 2023-2024 school year is Friday, September 8th.  Students who enroll after September 9th will have 2 weeks to pay for and activate the Device Protection Plan; payment can be made through the Bookstore.

Chromebook Checkout|Return

Chromebooks are issued to new students within a few hours of enrollment or first thing on day 2 depending on their enrollment time. Students withdrawing from Millennium need to return their Chromebook and charger during the withdrawal process. The exception to this would be if students are transferring to a school within the district or transferring to online with AFUHSD. The Chromebook will follow students for in district transfers.
