German Language Learning Websites:
· LEO.org By far the best dictionary! Also can be downloaded free as an app
· Antolin is the reading practice website that the students use to check their reading comprehension on their German books. Students can also read news articles online.
Interesting websites to further German language exposure or help with projects:
· KINDERNETZ
www.kindernetz.de is a great resource for a lot of informational and fun reading, videos and quizzes - sorted by topic. Click on “Infonetz” in the top bar.
· BLINDE KUH
· http://blinde-kuh.de/ This website is really a search portal that allows the user to search for other child friendly websites on various topics such as news, newspapers, videos, games….. Very helpful for use as a starting point for kid friendly websites in German.
· LOGO NACHRICHTEN
http://www.kika.de/logo/sendung-mit-ut/einzelsendung4158.html (news for children) New episode every day. They report on major and minor events around the world and explain it all in a way that is very understandable. This resource often serves as a jumping off point for interesting discussions.
· KIKA
http://www.kika.de/index.html German TV Shows and Online Learning Games
· SENDUNG MIT DER MAUS “The Show With the Mouse”
http://www.wdrmaus.de/filme/sachgeschichten/index.php5?filter=alle This website is invaluable!! It has many short videos on a variety of topics, many of which fit in perfectly with our unit themes. This website is great to use during Christmas Break, Spring Break, the summer, and on weekends. Our students not only hear German spoken by someone other than their teachers but they also learn some very interesting information.
· KINDERWELTREISE www.kinderweltreise.de Very helpful website for kids who are looking for information about various countries. We have used this on one project and the website is very easy to use and is organized to that learners of German can easily understand the text and the information.
Our school has adopted the California GO Math program from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
Students can log onto their account through the "Think Central link"
on the "4th grade Student Account Links" page.
