Meet Mrs. Path

Hello, my name is Heather Path, and  I have had the pleasure of being the Lucy Herring Elementary School Counselor since 2002. As the school counselor, I visit each classroom throughout the year and teach lessons that encourage personal, social and academic success as well as character development.  For students that may need additional support I offer small group and individual counseling on a short-term basis. I assist with transitions for our incoming kindergarten students and for our outgoing 5th graders to middle school.  In addition, I also manage the 504 caseload and participate in the Student Success Team using the multi-tiered system of support.  I coordinate our school Health fair and Kindergarten Registration. I am an active member of our school crisis team and positive behavior support team.  I enjoy working with students, teachers, and their families to ensure personal, social, and academic success.

I began my counseling career at J.H. Berry and Hunley Park Elementary schools in North Charleston, S.C. in 1995. I was a lead school counselor who also assisted new hires while they transitioned to their new position. Prior to working in the public school system, I was a social worker for the Department of Social Services economic division(food stamps and aid to families with dependent children) in Charleston, S.C. from 1990-1995.

I graduated from Irmo High School, in Irmo, SC, received my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from The College of Charleston, Charleston,SC, and received my Master's of Education in Elementary School Counseling from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C.
