ABout Me...

I was born and raised in Cape May County, and after seven years in PA for undergraduate and graduate school, I returned back home to my family and friends in south Jersey. Before teaching at ACIT, I taught literature and writing courses as an instructor for three years at Stockton, but when a local high school was advertising for an English teacher to join their very small but soon to be growing staff and school, I took a leap and never looked back. Nearly 18 years later, here I am, still at ACIT.

The school and I have grown and changed so much; even when it has been hard, it has been mostly for the better. Some of the best things about ACIT - including a staff that genuinely cares about each student -  have remained even as we've grown - and that growth has lead to so many great additions - increased access to clubs, sports, and a far greater selection of courses to engage and challenge.

I love my career and have cherished each and every year at ACIT. We love ACIT so much that my oldest daughter is a graduate of ACIT; she had many fantastic opportunities while here - four years of Mock Trial, baseball managing, student council, student leadership, and political internships to name a few. Currently, my son is an incoming Freshman in Aviation, and on the football team.

I am happy when...

I am happy when my family is happy. I love being a mom; my kids at home come first, and so do my 'kids' at work. I do my best to advocate for them and speak up when I think their best interests are not served. I love teaching my subject matter, but I also love to be able to support our students however possible to help them meet their goals.

I am also happiest when it's warm and sunny and I'm outside soaking up the sun. It's true what they say about vitamin D and the sun; it really makes my good mood soar. If I can't have sun and swim, the thing that makes me happy year-round is doing yoga, lifting, biking, or walking with my two dogs.

I enjoy hosting family dinners, celebrations, and holidays. I love to cook for everyone and welcome them to my home. I am a good swimmer; I used to swim in high school and college on teams, now I swim for exercise and pleasure.

I LOVE watching the Phillies and Eagles play. I also enjoy watching the Flyers. I am both a huge Star Trek AND Star Wars fan - and love to read/watch all things sci-fi, Marvel, and historical in addition to literary classics and new non-fiction texts.

My education...

Before joining the ACIT family, I earned my Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Women's Studies. I then completed my Master's Degree in Literature along with 30 Doctoral credits in Literature and Criticism. One of the many highlights of my education was studying abroad during graduate school in Nancy, France. I am a lifelong and avid learner and my favorite subjects, of course, are Literature, Writing, and Film.
