Equal groups: have the same number of objects in each group.
The factors are the numbers multiplied.
The product is the answer to a multiplication problem.
Multiply: combine equal groups to find how many in all.
You make an array by placing the same number of tiles in each row. Make an array with 2 rows of 10 tiles .
The Commutative Property of Multiplication states that when you change the order of the factors, the product stays the same. You can think of it as the Order Property of Multiplication.
The Identity Property of Multiplication states that the product of any number and 1 is that number.
7 × 1 = 7 6 × 1 = 6
1 × 7 = 7 1 × 6 = 6
The Zero Property of Multiplication states that the product of zero and any number is zero.
0 × 5 = 0 0 × 8 = 0
5 × 0 = 0 8 × 0 = 0
