Aplington-Parkersburg FFA Chapter

Chapter officers interview for positions in March and are announced at the annual awards banquet at the end of April. Positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, Historian, Sentinel, and Jr. Vice President. Applications are due early March. Candidates must be freshman, sophomores, or juniors who hold a Greenhand Degree.

President: Layla Wessels

Grade: Senior.

SAE: Placement in Food Service at Big Acai.

Favorite Color: Yellow.

Future Plans: Attend a university to study Political Science.

Hobbies/Sports: Spending time with family and friends, listening to and playing music, going to the lake, and traveling.

Why did you join FFA?: Agriculture is a big part of my family and something that I really love. FFA has allowed me many opportunities to express and expand this interest.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: To have fun and be enthusiastic while humbly serving each other and our community!

Vice President: Sam Janssen

Grade: Senior.

SAE: Placement in Grain Production at Joe Dier Seed and Entrepuenrship at Janssen Show Pigs.

Favorite Color: Blue

Future Plans: Attend a Junior College to Livestock Judge and then transfer to a 4 year university to continue judging.

Why did you join FFA?: To be able to show FFA at the state fair.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: Win the National FFA Livestock Judging Contest

Secretary: Sierra Sessler

Grade: Senior.

SAE: Placement in Food Service at Stinky's Bar and Grill.

Favorite Color: Pink.

Future Plans: Complete Gen Eds and then attend a 4 year university for Mental Health Therapy.

Hobbies/Sports: Music, Theater, Dance, Speech, Tennis, spending time at the river with family, and bible studies with friends.

Why did you join FFA?: I looked up to my sister and the family tradition of being in FFA and on the Officer Team.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: Give back by serving my community and be a role model to the other FFA members.

Treasurer: Maison Copp

SAE: Placement in Ag Services at Luhring Services.

Future Plans: Attend a 4 year college to pursue a career in civil engineering.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: Leaving a lasting impact!

Reporter: Sophie Berends

Future Plans: Attend a 4 year college to get a degree in Elementary Education.

Why did you join FFA?: I have two older sisters who were in FFA. They were role models to me growing up so I joined to follow in their footsteps.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: To show our support and give back to the community that supports our chapter greatly!

Historian: Kamie Helmke

SAE: Placement in Ag Business at Parkersburg Hardware.

Favorite Color: Blue.

Future Plans: Persue a future within the Ag industry.

Why did you join FFA?: I am passionate about agriculture and serving people. FFA is a combines both of those things to raise strong leaders.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: My goal is to share my passion for Ag with other members, and to help them to find their spot within the agricultural industry.

Sentinel: Graeden Janssen

Future Plans: Attend a 4 year university to persue a future in agriculture.

Future Plans: Farming with my dad.

Why did you join FFA?: Originally, I joined to follow the family tradition. Now, I'm here to build them.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: To build the next generation of authentic, humble, and passionate young agriculturalists that will solve the world's needs for food, fiber, and fuel!
