A-P FFA - Local FFA Officers

Aplington-Parkersburg FFA Chapter

Chapter officers interview for positions in March and are announced at the annual awards banquet at the end of April. Positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, Historian, Sentinel, and Jr. Vice President. Applications are due early March. Candidates must be freshman, sophomores, or juniors who hold a Greenhand Degree.

President: Layla Wessels

Grade: Junior.

SAE: Placement in Food Service at Big Acai.

Favorite Color: Green.

Future Plans: Attend a 2-4 university after high school.

Favorite LDE/CDE: Ag Issues and Livestock Evaluation.

Other LDE/CDEs: Conduct of Meetings.

Hobbies/Sports: Play and musical, spending time with family and friends, listening to and playing music, going to the lake, and traveling.

Why did you join FFA?: Agriculture is a big part of my family and something that I really love. FFA has allowed me many opportunities to express and expand this interest.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: To have fun and be enthusiastic while humbly serving each other and our community!

Vice President: Emma Haan

Grade: Senior.

SAE: Placement in Swine Production at Haan Family Farm and Placement in Crop Services at Bayer.

Favorite Color: Periwinkle.

Future Plans: Attend a 4 year university and go on to attend law school.

Favorite LDE/CDE: Livestock Evaluation.

Hobbies/Sports: Soccer, reading, fishing, hiking, and bracelet making.

Why did you join FFA?: My brother was in FFA and enjoyed it - so I decided to try it out and loved it.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: I want our chapter to host a FFA "Murder Mystery" as a fundraiser!

Secretary: Ella Buttjer

Grade: Senior.

SAE: Placement in Career Ready Practices as a lifeguard at the Wellsburg Community Pool.

Favorite Color: Blue.

Future Plans: Attend a local college and pursue a career in either elementary education or pediatrics.

Hobbies/Sports: Reading, painting, soccer, track, and hanging out with friends.

Why did you join FFA?: I've always loved communication, working with a team, and serving others. I also grew up around agriculture, so FFA seemed like the perfect way to combine all of my passions.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: To be a positive role model to others and serve the community!

Treasurer: Maison Copp

Grade: Junior.

SAE: Placement in Ag Services at Parkersburg Hardware.

Favorite Color: Blue.

Future Plans: Attend a 4 year college.

Hobbies/Sports: Football, track, wrestling, pickleball, and work.

Why did you join FFA?: For the dope t-shirts, of course!

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: Setting and achieving our goals we set together!

Reporter: Ellie Reints

Grade: Senior.

SAE: Placement in Food Service at Legend Trail Golf Course.

Favorite Color: Red.

Future Plans: Pursue a career in Biomedical Engineering at university of Iowa.

Hobbies/Sports: Soccer, dance, cheer, cross country, and wrestling.

Why did you join FFA?: My older brother came home and told my family about his positive experiences and I joined and ended up loving it.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: To keep a positive mindset and environment, and bring at least one new activity to the chapter!

Historian: Aubrey Williamson

Grade: Senior.

SAE: Placement in Swine Production at Williamson Farms and Placement in Food Service at Legend Trail Golf Course.

Favorite Color: Yellow.

Future Plans: Undecided.

Hobbies/Sports: Softball, cross-country, tennis, and spending time with family at the farm, as well as hanging out with friends.

Why did you join FFA?: I want to make more memories and create new relationships as well as grow into a better leader.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: A goal I have for our chapter is to increase member participation and get everyone more involved!

Sentinel: Sierra Sessler

Grade: Junior.

Why did you join FFA?: I like agriculture, and looked up to my sister and the family tradition which is why I joined.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: Get to better know the members individually and on a personal level!

Jr. Vice President: Sam Janssen

Future Plans: Attend a 4 year university to judge livestock and become a Livestock Nutritionist.

Why did you join FFA?: Being able to show FFA at Iowa State Fair.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: Enhancing the livestock evaluation program!

Future Plans: Retire at A-P High School.

Why did you join FFA?: Originally, I joined to follow the family tradition. Now, I'm here to build them.

What is one goal you have for our chapter?: To build the next generation of authentic, humble, and passionate young agriculturalists that will solve the world's needs for food, fiber, and fuel!
