After more than 20 years in the hotel industry, I learned that behind every successful operation is a clear understanding of the numbers. My career took me through many departments — Sales, Operations, Food & Beverage, and ultimately Revenue Management — where I discovered my passion for financial strategy and performance.
In Revenue Management, I was deeply involved in the financial health of each property: developing annual budgets, preparing monthly and quarterly forecasts, and analyzing P&Ls to understand the story behind every number — from top-line revenue to EBITDA, GOP, and NOI. In simple terms, I learned what really matters: how much money your business is actually keeping at the end of the month and what drives your profitability.
When I stepped away from hospitality, I knew I wanted to use that experience to help small businesses find the same kind of clarity. I started 5and2 Business Services to provide not just bookkeeping, but insight — helping business owners understand their numbers, improve cash flow, and make confident decisions.
In addition to accounting and advisory services, I also guide new entrepreneurs through the early stages of business formation. Many business owners start with a great idea but need a little help setting up the structure behind it. I’m here to make that process simple and stress-free — from formation steps to registered agent support.
That’s how 5and2 Business Services was born — out of a desire to bring structure, strategy, and peace of mind to every business owner I serve.
Hi, I’m Mary Phillips — wife, mom of five, proud grandmother, and fur-baby mom to Bella and Luna. When I’m not working, you’ll often find me relaxing at home with my family.
The name 5and2 Business Services comes from a place of faith and purpose. It’s inspired by the miracle of Jesus feeding the five thousand with just five loaves and two fish — and it also reflects my household of five children and two parents (or five kids and two dogs, depending on who you ask!). Launching my own business was a calling I had long felt, and just like the disciples doubted the miracle of the boy’s lunch, I’ve sometimes wondered if I could make it succeed. Yet I’m reminded that I can do all things through Him who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13) and that my plans will be established when I commit my work to the Lord (Proverbs 16:3).
With that inspiration, I created 5and2 Business Services to serve small business owners with clarity, guidance, and peace of mind — all while dedicating my work to something greater than myself.
