The Teen Parent Program is open to any pregnant or parenting (male or female) teen in the 509J School District. The program was designed to assist students to achieve optimal educational, social and career opportunities through general education courses and alternative options. Students can participate in full-day, part-day or independently designed schedules to meet their individual needs. Supports in place to enable teen parents to attend classes include:
- Childcare (Free of charge)
- Help with transportation
- Assistance in accessing healthcare and other community resources
Parenting Education Parenting class is offered daily during the day for an elective credit. The course provides opportunities for students to learn about all aspects of parenting and to benefit from the support of staff and other teen parents in their new role as parent. Class content is tailored to student needs and the age of their child. Guest speakers who are experts in their field are invited to class on occasion to enhance the student learning experience.
