Welcome!

Hello there Buff family! This is Mr. Ang's website where you can find lessons, links, and everything regarding music!

A little bit about Mr. Ang

Hey all! I am totally stoked to be here teaching music. If I look a little familiar it's because I was one of the Ethos/Americorps facilitators that was assigned to Buff. I had about a year and half with you guys filled with wacky classes, concerts and recitals. It is an absolute privilege to continue to learn and teach here.

Music is a universal language that anybody can learn. I believe that music is as important as any other subject in that it provides an outlet for kids and gives them a form of expression that is fun and can take them to amazing places later in life. Music has been proven to help a young person's brain develop as it helps them process sound, language, and helps speech perception and reading skills!

My goal is to always provide a space for students where they can feel safe, and can grow as musicians and grow as people.

Before I moved to Oregon I was in many different places. I was born in upstate New York but grew up in northern New Mexico. In middle school I was introduced to the drums when I was assigned to be a percussionist in band class. From there I began looking for any and every opportunity to play music whether it was helping at the local church, or playing with friends in bars and cafes. After high school I spent a year up in Washington studying music at Whitworth University, then transferred and finished an A.A in Music Performance at Los Angeles College of Music with an emphasis in drums. Life in LA was an absolute roller coaster. One day I would be playing for an up and coming international pop star in Hollywood, and the next I would be playing music with friends on the rooftops of Venice Beach or at a house in Bakersfield.  I even had the opportunity to work with a high school drum line in Hollywood!

As much as I love being on stage, teaching will always be my passion and hanging out, listening and talking with kids will never get old.

Outside of school and music you can find me hiking a random trail, watching the latest superhero movies, or playing with friends online screaming at the top of my lungs.
