INFORMATION About surfing perth
This Surfing Perth website was started by one of my high school work experience students. I'm Ben Grummels and have added content including most of the surfing photos, most of which were taken when I lived at 4 Karrinyup Road 2010 to 2021. Most of that time I surfed a 7'2" mini mal but after suffering neck pain switched to a buggie board. At 198cm laying down makes the waves look bigger. At my height, I've only been tubed a few times at Trigg. It happens after takeoff from over rocks at Trigg Point, when the wave goes over the shallower beach sand break, walls up and covers your head.
In 2024 I started Xperth.au so feel welcome to post good Perth surfing photos there. My old YouTube Trigg Surfing videos.
MEMORABLE SURF
My biggest surf: North Point, Cowaramup, southwestern Australia.
What are my most memorable surfing waves?
Surfing a glassy wave over the coral reef at Hikkaduwa Sri Lanka and watching blue/green parrot fish darting around in front of me.
Stand up tube at Trigg Beach in summer after takeoff at Trigg Point.
Coming out of a tube at Kuta Beach and having a Japanese tourist clapping me.
Surfing at Chaweng Beach , Koh Samui, in the Gulf of Thailand where I never expected to find waves.
Crouching makes small waves at Chaweng Beach Koh Samui look bigger. It only happens when there's a storm in the Gulf of Thailand. A massage on the beach was great after a surf.
Surfing is one of many good things to do in Perth.
