Simple Rhyming
The City of Lights passes by in neon streaks
Each one, a ribbon reflecting on my helm
There to shine for a moment as I slice the wind
Only to disappear for the new ones to shine
My thoughts trail far ahead of me
Dancing with the rivers of oranges, pinks, and greens
That waved farewell as I drive beyond them
The sound of the motor left behind as I soar with the colors
The Lone, Beautiful moon overlooking me, Through the City of Lights
Flying as my mind dances with the Neon streaks
In the cool air of early 7 o’clock
I stood in front of the frosty glass door
My key in hand, I turn the lock
Only one thing my mind waited for
The machines were on, and the beans all ground
The lights shining outside
On the door, I waited for the bell to make its sound
Exited for the day, I happily sighed
Endless dunes of sand
The heat strikes all that cross
The sun is king here
The wind screams past us
Quilts of ice fall down to earth
Riding Ymir’s back
Deep in the sinkhole
The house sits there in ruins
Swallowed by the Earth
Fire in the Fields
The golden planes of raised wheat
Painted black with ash
Fire consuming it all
As a starving monster would
The screeching halted
With a deafening silence.
Fire gently swayed
Atop the crushed vehicles,
Now being metal coffins.
Lyrical Lines
Here we are, lined up like toys
In a field soon to be lost
Trying to shield our girls and boys
Giving up lives for the cost
Are we just pawns in a numbers game?
Toy soldiers of tin
Try as we might and how hard we fight
The higher number will win
One by one, we start going down
As we chip away at the mass
Colors flash by, like green, red and brown
As bodies fall onto the grass
Are we just pawns in a numbers game?
Toy soldiers of tin
Try as we might and how hard we fight
The higher number will win
As the chaos finally slows
I lay on the ground and cry
After all the death and painful woes
The smaller number will die
