Comforting Night
Ocean waves, crashing
Sand seeping between my toes
Cold air on my skin
Gazing past the salty sea
At the warm, colored sunset
Plants
Friends who are always there
They don’t judge
Or care
Or feel
Or worry
Unlike I who has a pile of thoughts
I don’t want
Judgment
To care about problems
To feel unwanted things
Worry
I sometimes wish to be a plant
But then
I couldn’t watch them grow
Hope
Sitting near the fireplace
I have no worries or doubts
Looking out the window
I think of what life is all about
Not the fear or anger that we so often feel
But rather, the love and joy
That fills this world
Though, that might just be a decoy
Let’s make this place a happy one
That’s filled with all good things
I look at the blazing fire
With hope that this all clings
