Eugene Symphonic Band Outreach Concert

This year, the ATA band program was selected to participate in the Eugene Symphonic Band (ESB) Outreach program! Our very own Intermediate and Advanced Bands shared the stage with the Eugene Symphonic Band in the Churchill High auditorium.

The members of the Eugene Symphonic Band graciously shared their time, experience, and knowledge with us as well as gave a generous donation to the ATA Band program. Thank you ESB!

Beginning Band students performed on the Hult Center stage

We had 4 amazing Beginning Band students perform on the Hult Center Stage in February. They even sang a song in Portuguese! For more information, check out the Eugene Concert Choir website: https://eugeneconcertchoir.org/edop/

ata's first ever community arts cafe evening: c.a.k.e.!

In collaboration with the visual and digital arts programs, we held our first ever Community Arts Kafe Evening! We had several band and choir students perform in addition to the stunning student artwork. Thank you to all those who contributed to the event!

OMEA All-State

Every year, the OMEA Conference and All-State Honor ensembles are held right here in Eugene! This year, our very own Evan Kajikawa auditioned and was accepted into the All-State Orchestra along with the top student musicians from all around Oregon. This is a HUGE accomplishment! The concert was amazing. Let's get even more students there next year.

Music in our schools

Music has a lasting positive impact in our lives. The positive impact on music in the lives of our students lasts a lifetime. Therefore, the education and cultivation of music in our youngest members of society, our students, is paramount.

Every day, in classrooms and rehearsal rooms across our school district, music educators dedicate themselves to reaching all students with life-changing musical experiences. Parents, administrators, and the wider community often only see the wonderful results of music performances; however, we miss the months of practice and rehearsals and more importantly the learning process that takes place to make it all happen.

I encourage members in our community to acknowledge and celebrate music education as an essential part of every student’s educational journey.
