This is a great opportunity for a person to buy a true survivor from the 1970's
"Val" may not be as desirable or collectable as a Charger or a V8 but only having 141,000 on the clock is worth saving or keeping the best bits.
The specs:
1976 Chrysler Valiant Regal Sedan
245 + column automatic
141,000 km on clock
Original colour Topaz Gold
I have recently got her going again and she is running very smoothly..
New parts fitted:
Heavy-duty battery
Spark plugs & leads
Distributor cap & rotor button
I bought Val locally 25 years ago showing only 120,000 km and believe she only had two previous owners. It was a daily driver for over two years when I was working between Launceston and Hobart. Unfortunately, lack of money and health issues have prevented my doing anything further.
The Good
Original Borg Warner 35 transmission was fully reconditioned 20 years ago by Frank Maat at his Margaret St transmission business.
The engine has always run well and most of the kilometres have been on the highway.
The standard vinyl seats have been recovered in an original looking fabric.
Low 141,000 km
The Bad & the Ugly
Rust – There is a lot but possibly fixable for a person with the time and skills.
Tyres old and ok to move car around but not for on road use.
No carpet
Also included
LHS rear bumper rubber over rider
Spare wheel and tyre
The price?
What’s it worth? I don’t know, hoping for $1950 but open to offers.
Val is able to be driven onto a trailer.
Brakes not good but handbrake is ok.
If you are genuinely interested, please phone to make a time to inspect and make an offer. I don't have time for messages, the car is located in Launceston.
