Aloha!

It is great to be a part of our Mokapu School Ohana. My name is Kathy Ellwanger. I am teaching Hawaiiana Literacy this year to our Kindergarten and First Grade classes. I have previously taught in the sixth grade here for ten years and then for an additional year in grade four.

All of these years were great ones with a lot of very special memories. Mokapu is a "great" school!

I feel privileged to teach our Mokapu students about Hawaii. There is a lot to learn. Together we explore Hawaii's rich and interesting history, culture, and language. It is wonderful to have many of our young students ask many great questions about life here in Hawaii, particularly as they live in such a beautiful location with a unique culture and incredible biodiversity.
