At SnapSave, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the SnapSave Chrome Extension ("SnapSave," "we," or "us") handles information while providing functionality to save web images and product data to your Google Sheets. SnapSave is designed to operate without collecting or storing any personal data, and this policy outlines our practices to ensure transparency and compliance with applicable laws.
SnapSave does not collect, store, process, or share any personal information or user data. The extension operates locally on your device, and all data interactions (e.g., saving image URLs or product details to Google Sheets) occur directly between your browser and Google’s services through secure, user-authorized APIs.
When you use SnapSave:
Any data you choose to save (e.g., image URLs, product details) is transmitted directly to your selected Google Sheet via Google’s APIs and is not accessed, retained, or stored by SnapSave.
No personal information (e.g., name, email, or browsing history) is collected or processed by SnapSave.
All operations are performed locally within your browser, and no data is sent to or stored on our servers.
To provide its functionality, SnapSave requests the following Chrome Extension permissions:
activeTab: To access the content of the active web page (e.g., to extract image URLs or product details).
downloads: To enable downloading of images to your device when requested.
identity: To facilitate secure OAuth2 authentication with Google services for accessing Google Sheets and Drive.
storage: To store temporary, non-personal data (e.g., authentication tokens) locally in your browser for session management.
scripting: To interact with web pages and execute scripts necessary for extracting and saving data.
These permissions are used solely for the intended functionality of SnapSave. No personal data is collected, stored, or shared as a result of these permissions.
SnapSave integrates with the following third-party services to provide its functionality:
Google Sheets and Google Drive: SnapSave uses Google’s APIs to save data to your Google Sheets and access Drive for file storage. These interactions are authorized via OAuth2 authentication, which requires your explicit consent. Data transmitted to Google services is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
Gemini API: SnapSave uses the Gemini API through a secure backend for AI-powered analysis of product information (e.g., extracting details from web pages). No personal data is shared with the Gemini API, and all interactions are handled securely via our backend service provider. The backend service’s privacy practices are governed by their respective privacy policy, which can be reviewed at [insert backend provider’s privacy policy URL, if applicable].
We do not have access to, control over, or store any data processed by these third-party services. All data interactions are initiated by you and occur directly between your browser and the respective service.
SnapSave uses Google’s OAuth2 authentication to securely connect to your Google account for accessing Sheets and Drive. When you authenticate:
You grant SnapSave permission to access specific Google services on your behalf.
Authentication tokens are generated by Google and stored locally in your browser’s storage.
These tokens are used only during your active session and are not shared with or stored by SnapSave beyond your browser.
You can revoke SnapSave’s access at any time via your Google Account settings (https://myaccount.google.com/permissions).
We prioritize your security by implementing the following measures:
All communications with Google APIs and the Gemini API backend are encrypted using HTTPS.
Authentication tokens are stored securely in your browser and are not transmitted to or retained by SnapSave.
SnapSave operates locally, minimizing the risk of data exposure.
We regularly review our security practices to ensure compliance with industry standards.
As SnapSave does not collect or store personal data, there is no personal data for us to provide, delete, or modify. However, you have full control over the data you save to Google Sheets:
You can manage, edit, or delete data in your Google Sheets directly through Google’s interface.
You can revoke SnapSave’s access to your Google account at any time via Google’s account settings.
If you have questions about data stored in Google Sheets or Drive, please refer to Google’s Privacy Policy or contact Google support.
SnapSave is designed to comply with all applicable privacy laws, including but not limited to:
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): As we do not process personal data, GDPR obligations related to data processing do not apply. However, we ensure our practices align with GDPR principles of transparency and user control.
California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA): SnapSave does not collect or sell personal information, and thus no CCPA-specific disclosures are required.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): SnapSave is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child under 13 has used SnapSave, please contact us immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in SnapSave’s functionality, legal requirements, or industry standards. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy.
