Call for Readers

We are looking for School District Administrators and Content Providers to give us 30 mins of your time to read holiday stories to classrooms across New York and Ohio via Zoom. At the top and bottom of each hour, we will feature a guest reader. Each reader will have 25 mins to share their favorite holiday stories. Guest readers will need to have a camera, microphone, and a computer that can connect to Zoom. We STRONGLY recommend using an eBook or placing a book under a document camera to allow the students to see the pictures of your story. Check with your school or public library for services like InfOhio's resources or OverDrive to check out online books to share on your computer. You can also find some of the books here - http://en.childrenslibrary.org/

We suggest you connect 5 to 10 mins early to make sure you can be seen, heard, and are able to display content. Many classrooms will have their cameras on to see the students, others will video mute. When you are connected, you will be made an alternative host which will allow you to unmute your microphone and to display your story. All guest readers will be introduced by a member of the OhioDLA or OCM BOCES who will stay in your session for support if needed.

Want to join us for the Holiday Reading Extravaganza? Please complete our Google Form and you will be given a link to our Schedule Doc to add your name and the books you plan to read.

Sign me up! - November 28th

When selecting your reading materials please keep in mind that our students come to us from a variety of holiday customs and traditions. We should keep in mind stories of various cultures and traditions while trying to keep overly religious overtones to a minimum.
