World Cup 2022 Qualifications

The tournament will be held in Qatar from June 14 to July 15, 2022, and the hosts will qualify automatically. As of this writing, there are 12 teams, including defending champions France, and five other teams from Europe. However, the final draw will determine how many teams will make the tournament. If the group draw isn't fair, the group winner may have the chance to join one of the other two groups. This article outlines the qualification process and the teams in each group.

Uruguay will face off against Uruguay in the opening round of the tournament. The game will begin at 2 p.m. ET on Dec. 1. The winners will be decided at the end of the group stage. Those teams will then meet in the finals on July 14.

Three South American nations have already qualified for the tournament. Chile and Argentina qualified through the OFC draw, while Brazil and Argentina qualified from CONMEBOL. Other countries in the group include American Samoa, Iran, South Korea, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. The tournament will also feature a team from Asia, with Tunisia qualifying through the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcanic eruption in Tonga. The United Arab Emirates and Australia will play in the inter-confederation playoffs to determine the other two spots.

The United States will face the winner of the European playoff on Nov. 21, followed by games against England on Black Friday and Iran on Nov. 29. Among the other teams in the group, Peru and Costa Rica will be up against the winner of the match between England and Spain. The winners of these games will go on to play in the semifinals. However, the Americans have a chance to advance to the final by winning the group stage.

A total of 32 countries will qualify for the 2022 World Cup. The 32 teams will be split into eight groups of four, with the top two teams advancing to the knockout round. After the qualifying round, the tournament will be held in Qatar and the host country will qualify automatically. The qualifying process will start three years before the event. AFC and CAF will each have four or five teams competing in the finals. CONEMBOL and CONCACAF will also have three or four teams in the tournament.

The qualification process will be even more intriguing this time around. While the United States did not qualify for the World Cup in Russia in 2018, it did qualify for the event in 2022. Its group will include England, Iran, and Scotland. The United States tied England in the 2010 World Cup, and the French lost to France in the 1998 World Cup. Wales and France have also qualified, despite their poor results in previous World Cups. These teams will play in the next World Cup and have the chance to play in the final.

The World Cup in Qatar will not allow for sexy behaviour, as it is illegal to engage in extramarital relationships in the country. The organising committee of the tournament, Nasser Al-Khater, has said that everyone will be safe. In December 2021, he made it clear that "homosexuality is not allowed" in the emirate. However, he has pledged that LGBTIQ+ fans will be allowed to travel to Qatar.
