Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I log onto Study Island/Exact Path at home?

A: watch the video!

Q: I worked on Exact Path for a long time. How come I still don't have my 60 minutes?

A: Your 60 minutes is for the on-task time spent working on your Learning Path. If you are working on an assignment that I gave you, that does not count toward your Learning Path time. If you are working on your Learning Path but you are just logged in and not completing any activities, that time also does not count toward your on-task time. You can work toward your 60 minutes by being completely focused and working on your Learning Path activities.

Q: How can I see how much time I still need for my 60 minutes on my Exact Path Learning Path?

A: (watch the last minute only)

Q: Can I redo an assignment for a better grade?

A: Yes of course, but only if you turned that assignment it in on time*! Please either make your corrections with a different colored pen/pencil than you used when you first turned the assignment in. You can make the corrections right on the paper or on a stapled piece of notebook paper. Please do NOT erase your old incorrect answers. Turn in any corrections up until the end of that unit (aka test day). I will give you full points back as long as your corrections are accurate!

*late assignments may not be corrected for a better grade.

Q: I forgot to turn in my homework on time. Can I still turn it in for a grade?

A: Yes of course! I do not take off late points, so your assignment can still be graded for full credit. Please make sure you turn it in by the end of the following week in which the assignment was due (for example: if it is due on Wednesday, you must turn it in by NEXT Friday). If you do not turn it in within that time, the grade will stay a 0% in PowerSchool.

Q: I'm locked out of my Exact Path assignment, but I want to try it again. How can I unlock it?

A: To unlock an assignment, you must complete the tutorial again. Please do not attempt Exact Path assignments more than FIVE times. See Mrs. Keller if you still have a low grade after five attempts or if you are confused about the assignment.

Q: How do I make test corrections?

A: watch the video! Make sure you do not use a calculator for corrections if one was not allowed on the test. You are allowed to reference your math journal for help with the corrections!

Q: How do I find the video lessons from you teaching my class?

A: I post all of the video lessons on Schoology. To access Schoology, please follow the directions under the Important Docs & Links tab on my website.

Once you are in Schoology, select your course (Math 7 or Pre-Alegbra) and view the folder called "Video Lessons" under the Materials. Select the unit you are currently on (or an old unit if you want to watch an older lesson). After that, select the date of the lesson you would like to watch. If the video does not appear right away, open it up in a new tab by clicking this button.

Q: How do I earn a trophy on Exact Path?

A: To earn a trophy on Exact Path, you must earn a score of 80% or higher on a skill in the Progress Check. This is different than all of the Mastery Quizzes that you have at the end of each tutorial. The Progress Check is the larger assignment that is all the way at the bottom of your Learning Path activities. To earn multiple trophies, you will have to earn 80% or higher on multiple skills that are assessed in the Progress Check!

Q: Is the Study Island Benchmark graded?

A: While the benchmark test is scored, it is not a part of the PowerSchool grade. The benchmark test is a tool for me to use to identify what students may already know about a math topic at the beginning of the year, this way I can track their progress on that skill when the benchmark is given again partway through the year. It is perfectly reasonable for a student to not understand most of the questions on the benchmark at the beginning of the year since 90% of the content has not yet been taught.
