General Information

Partners In Transition (PIT) began in the 2010-2011 school year. The program was developed for students on an Individual Education Plan (IEP), between the ages of 18-21 that have completed their state testing. Students from local high schools may apply to participate in this transition program.

The program follows the Woodland School District calendar, students attend Monday-Friday 8:45-2:45 and features a limited class size to assist in student success. It is based in a house located next to the Woodland School District Office. Our students spend approximately half of their day on a variety of job sites gaining valuable work skills. The other half of their day is spent within the PIT house expanding their functional academic, social and life skills.

Each student will be able to gain real life experience in a variety of settings. They will actively work on their academic skills, community job placements, various household activities including yard and gardening projects, community access, field trips as well as class businesses.

By working in many settings the students will be able to discover possible career options and then hone in on one that they will be able to develop the necessary skill set for. This will help prepare them for their future.

Physical Education (PE) and recreation are included within our program. We work out at a local fitness facility and participate in local recreation which includes local walking trails, swimming, bowling, local libraries and art galleries, to name a few.

The PIT program has developed and operates class based businesses. These businesses include personal grocery shopping, handmade dog treats, and the Pit Crew Car Detailing. Through these businesses the students learn to provide high quality and valuable services. The funds raised from these activities helps support the many community activities and field trips the students participate in throughout the year.

Through an individual plan, supportive staff, ample opportunities and a great setting this program offers each student time to mature and grow into the most independent young adult they can be!
